My name is Ki, I am a potter. The purpose of this project is to further my creative work. I create multi-media functional ceramic art; my work is inspired by nature and the effects of light.
With some friends, I am opening a gallery. At the last minute my kiln broke down; the kiln was critical to the gallery.
This gallery is my life's dream. I invested everything, and took future orders on pieces to be able to launch the gallery. With a new kiln, I can continue creating new art to sell, to keep the gallery going.
Will you partner with me to help keep the dream alive? My plan is to reward donors with original creations from my pottery studio.
Thank you, - Ki
Risks and challenges
The gallery was an opportunity that came when a shop was suddenly available. The price was right because artists & other businesses are being encouraged to develop the district. Affordable rent enables us to manage the risks involved; sharing shop duties with two other partners gives me time to work in my pottery studio to produce my work.
Sales of my pottery have progressively increased every year; my work is drawing lots of positive feedback and galleries throughout the region are placing orders. The past two years have been the best years for my art sales since the economic recession of 2008.
The kiln breakdown was an unexpected challenge that has caused unforeseen production delays. My credit is extended because of expenses in setting up the gallery. Without a kiln, I cannot create new pieces, and I cannot go forward with the gallery.
There is a small kiln at the gallery, capable of handling three of my pieces at a time, but it is not hooked up to 220v power; we need to hire an electrician. This kiln represents a future backup capability for my production requirements.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
