What is our mission?

Our mission is to create a printed quarterly magazine filled with healthy recipes, tutorials,  product reviews and many other food related tid-bits. We want to spread the knowledge of healthy, boxed lunches throughout the UK and the rest of the world.

We want to prove that packing healthy, delicious food can be faster, cheaper and generally a whole lot better for you than buying fast food. Bento and packed lunches are great for so many people, they're great for the children at school, for the adults at work, for the whole family going on a picnic or travelling for hours. Nobody needs to be an amazing chef to make great lunches but a magazine like Oh!Bento could definitely help.

What makes the Oh!Bento magazine different?

While there are a few bento/ boxed lunch tutorial magazines on the market almost none are available outside of Japan and any that are available are in Japanese. Oh!Bento will be one of the first, if not the first, bento and healthy lunch packing magazine written in English in the world!

We want you to be involved too, we want you to be able to send in your recipes and be credited for them. We also want a few pages at the back to feature themed bento lunches that have been sent in by you.

With a large group of bento friends across the world the magazine will always be full of fresh ideas, trends from across the globe and if my bento buddies are willing then it will feature their work too!

What will make up the Oh!Bento magazine?

Pages of colourful, detailed images showing step by step how to pack a varied, delicious and healthy lunch. Tutorials on how to make food look more appealing to picky eaters and even how to make your food look like a picture! Recipes on great tasting, quick foods that are safe to pack in a lunchbox.

Where will the money go?

The money will go towards making and publishing the magazine. Here is a rundown of the costs:

Printing - £2000

Registering - £200

New computer and software -  £1300

New Camera -  £200

Bento equipment and food - £300

Rewards and other costs - £1000

Printer - £100

If any additional funds are raised the money will go towards traveling to Japan, the home of bento so that I may take courses and learn the tricks of the trade so that I may pass them on to you.

Risks and challenges

The risks that may come with making a printed magazine is that the printing will be left to another company that we won't have full control over but by researching all options available we will try to make printing the magazine as fast and efficient as possible to ensure the magazine arrives with you in a fair amount of time.
