About

The Wind Fortress is a giant flying island that floats slowly, high in the sky, over a planet filled mostly with oceans and few rare islands. In this world full of magic, science and wilderness, you will discover the friendship and animosity between different people that live on the island. Full of strange encounters and funny dialogues, Wind Fortress' adventure differs from other role-playing games in its peaceful ambiance, which emphasizes exploration, discussion and thought.

KEY FEATURES

  • A large choice of actions: your character will evolve by accomplishing quests, but not necessarily by fighting.
  • Nonlinear quests: there are often several ways to solve a problem, and quests can end in different ways.
  • Avatar customization: fully personalize the look of your avatar.
  • Game master: create your own adventure and share them with other players.
  • Player vs player: fight against and along with other players (up to 6 vs 6).
  • Free evolution: your character skills will evolve depending on the actions you take during the adventure.
  • Guilds: join one of the four elemental guilds or refuse to use magic and join the outcasts.
  • Pets: adopt a pet that will follow you during the game.
  • Alchemy: mix ingredients to create potions and special mixtures.

THE STORY

After a long journey, you finally arrive at your destination. Before you stands the majestic citadel of Askan, capital of the Wind Fortress. Built at the base of a volcano, the city hosts the almighty Magic Academy, which attracts people from all over the world every year. Many apply, but only few succeed in entering the Academy and learning the secrets of magic arcana. Will you be one of them? Will you be able to defeat the people behind the dark plot that threatens all? Or will you be part of it?

During your adventure, you will meet many colorful non-playable characters, each with a strong personnality. You can interact with them and talk with them about many subjects.

 The wind fortress is inhabited by more than fifty animal species.

You will also encounter many brigands, and some paths might even lead you to fight Askan guards. Pirates’ boats have been spotted offshore, but they won't risk attacking the mighty citadel of Askan, right?

The development has progressed enormously and the game is 80% complete. We are passionate people but we still need to make a living. We need money to focus on the game development and hire additional help. But it is not only about money. We want backters to be involved in the game creation process, so they can help us decide what option they want us to develop. That will allow us to make the game quicker and much better!

José Morin - game designer / developer: after working as a documentary film producer and for the online game "The Renaissance Kingdoms," José started his own company, which developed the game "Adelian" and now "Wind Fortress”.

Laurent Lagrue - screenwriter: highly influenced by Hayao Miyazaki aerial movies like "Porco Rosso" and "Castle In The Sky" -- and by the tragic death of his hamster named Laputa in an escape attempt involving a biplane and a third-floor window -- Laurent made it his duty to write a story full of twists and turns and outstanding dialogues, in memory of Laputa.

Brice Lecordier - illustrator: after studying 2D animation and working for Mindscape and Luxanimation, Brice became a freelance illustrator. He is the illustrator of the comic, "Or Rouge,” and is currently working on an hybrid short film.

Edouard Cour - graphic artist: half comic-book artist, half graphic designer and full video game nerd. He is the author of the comic, "Herakles," which was awarded first place at 2012 BD'Art Festival (France). You can check out his work on his website.

The stretch goals are not yet determined, since we prefer to work them out with you. Here is a list of options that could be added to the game:

  • Quest improvement: we did the best we could, but with a limited budget, we had to make some choices and simplify some parts of the story. Help us make a better game!
  • More content: More side quests, maps and items
  • Animated characters during the fights, level 1. We will use Spine that has been funded on Kickstarter. Only the humans characters will be animated.
  • Animated characters during the fights, level 2: all foes will be animated.
  • Dynamic lighning during the fights, using one software funded on Kickstarter: Sprite Lamp
  • 3D isometric maps for much better looking explorations
  • Sidekicks: some non-playable characters will be able to join your party, fight at your side and have their skills evolve.
  • Improved pet evolution
  • Pet team: possibility to adopt several pets and to make them fight other players’ pets in an arena (alone or with a team)
  • Multiplayer interaction: You can see other players on the map and fight alongside or against them.
  • Muliplayer quests: some quests will allow you to fight along with other players.
  • Mobility: the game on mobile
  • Object crafting: you can craft weapons and clothes
  • Solo or mutiplayer mini games
  • Translation module, so the game can be translated into any language by the players (or by us, if we get enough funding!)
