"Pearl", based on the poem of the same name by former US Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser, is the story of a man traveling to tell his mother's last living cousin that his mother has passed away. During their visit, an intriguing revelation occurs. "Pearl" is a story of transitions, from one phase of life to the next, and from life to....?
I'm Richard Waterhouse, the producer of "PEARL". Writer/Director/Actor, Dan Butler (Frasier, Crazy Stupid Love) and I are already very proud of "PEARL" - and it's not even finished yet!! Our good fortune began the minute Frannie Sternhagen agreed to play the part of Pearl and it hasn't stopped. We shot "PEARL" for 3 days at the end of April (Tim Joy, cinematographer), edited in May and June (Peter Ciardelli, editor) and are now working on sound, music, and the credit sequence (Dan Mazur, sound and Greg De Belles, music). The entire process has gone beautifully and I completely expect "PEARL" to be well received in the film festival arena.
In order to finish our short, make sure that all of these talented artists are paid, and still have money to make copies and submit them to film festivals, we are raising these final needed funds. Please watch the video if you haven't already, and then help us finish this beautiful, sweet and touching film. Every little bit helps, and we're very appreciative of each and every donation.
