Meet CarEye: the smart, simple, effective, zero maintenance, and affordable device that will proactively alert you, your loved ones, or even emergency service providers when a child or pet is left alone in a hot car. On those days you can’t always remember everything on your check list, you can feel secure that CarEye is there to remind you.
Our stylish, simplistic, wire-free design houses innovative technology and sensors that delivers instant alerts and notifications directly to your mobile device via phone call or SMS.
Place it anywhere in your car
Our unique design allows you to place your CarEye on any of the windows in your car so that you can optimize its position for direct line of sight of your child or pet.
Never worry about charging the battery
We love our children, our pets, and we also love our planet. CarEye is 100% solar powered. CarEye utilizes solar cells to charge the internal battery. As long as its mounted on a window or windshield it will continue to charge inside your vehicle. Plus, it ships fully charged and has very low power consumption. In other words, never worry about charging your CarEye.
Latest technology and sensors for increased effectiveness
We made sure to use the latest innovation and technology in designing CarEye. We utilize an open source platform and equipped CarEye with the right sensors to continuously monitor and detect children or pets in the car when critical temperatures are met. CarEye tests itself everyday and is equipped with LED indicators to let you know that it is operating correctly.
Born ready. Instant alert and notification system
CarEye doesn't joke around when it comes to your child's or pet's safety. If they are left inside your car and it's too hot, it will instantly call you and send you a text message, no app required after the initial configuration. If you don't pick up the phone, it will call your loved ones or emergency service provide. Someone has to act fast before it is too late.
Ultra-affordable + low maintenance
CarEye will be affordable, there really should be no price to your child or pet's safety. However, we have to put a price tag on it, and it is $150 per unit + a tiny subscription fee (less than 5 cents a day, to cover the costs of the cell phone line inside every CarEye) . For Kickstarter pre-orders, we are offering a special price for $75 per unit + we'll include the first year subscription for free!
CarEye is also very low maintenance, because its wire-free and self-charging, all you need to do is just place it on any window in your car, that's it!
Who is this for?
Precautious Parent: Some parents like precaution, and there is nothing wrong with that, especially if it helps avoid a tragedy in the family.
Forgetful Father: We all know that fathers tend to be more forgetful sometimes, so why not get your husband/father a CarEye to have that peace of mind?
Nice Nanny: We love to take breaks from our children sometimes, and we deserve it! That's why we trust our Nanny. It never hurts to have a CarEye in your Nanny's car.
Daycare Driver: Yes, it happens, daycare drivers sometimes don't account for all children on and off the bus, especially if one of the toddlers is fast asleep in the back. CarEye is there to help!
Pet Owners: Pets are dear to us, cats and dogs are part of the family, and they deserve the utmost attention too. CarEye will alert you if your pet is left alone in a hot car!
Animal Shelter Truck Drivers: These guys deserve a ton of respect, they are out in the streets rescuing animals, CarEye will protect the animals in the car while the driver finds them on the street.
Who's talking about us?
Solar powered: CarEye gets all its power from solar panels placed on the back of each unit. That means that you never have to worry about recharging it or wires inside your car.
Temperature detection: CarEye continuously monitors your car's temperature and reacts if its get too hot.
Carbon Monoxide detection: CarEye also protects you and your loved ones from Carbon Monoxide intoxication. If levels inside your car are too high, it will alert you.
Infrared human/pet detection: CarEye uses a wide angle, ultra sensitive infrared sensor to detect human or pet presence inside your car.
Smart logic: We made CarEye smart. It knows when to turn on and off sensors to save power and to minimize false alerts.
Data connectivity: CarEye is connected. It relies on leading cell phone providers to send you alerts when you need them.
Voice calling & SMS: CarEye can either call you or send you a text alert, depending on the severity of the emergency and how you configure your own CarEye.
How will your funding help?
First, with your support, we will be able to focus on fine tuning the CarEye electronic board , complete design of power board and solar panels , and optimize the design for final components dimensions .
Second, with your support, we will use your funding to streamline a manufacturing process to be able to source, design, assemble, test, and package CarEye
Third, with your support, we will be able to develop the smartphone app that will make you have control of your CarEye settings including how and who to communicate alerts to.
Lastly, with your support, we will be able to look into how we can expand CarEye to provide more safety and security features for you inside your vehicle.
The background story
What made us decide to do this: seeing the number of children and pets that die each year as a result of heat exhaustion and no effective solution to prevent these tragedies was the main driver behind the creation of the first CarEye Prototype.
Houston Hackathon: A friend of ours invited us to participate in the City of Houston Hackathon, during May of 2014. During that weekend, we worked very hard, day and night, to produce the first working prototype. To our surprise, our product was selected as one of the three winners

Rocco and Ahmed are techies and makers. They've known each other back in the day studying Engineering at the University of Houston. Since graduating, they have worked together in both corporate america and independently on side projects and products. As fathers, they are very passionate about child safety. Continuously seeing tragic news about children dying from heat strokes in hot cars, they decided to do something about it.
Risks and challenges
We have been in Engineering and Information Technology Project Management for the past 10 years and understand its complexities. We know how to deliver projects on time and on budget. We are also aware that with any new product, there are many obstacles to overcome. CarEye is a very ambitious project, it is a device that combines multiple technologies and we are aware of the multiple challenges that this presents. One of the reasons why we took more than a year to launch our Kickstarter campaign is because we wanted to make sure that the product, and functionality, was possible, affordable, easy to use and effective.
Power consumption is one of such risks and challenges. Even though we are planning to use the latest solar panel and battery technology, we must keep working on our software, to ensure that the product can work continuously even for days, without necessarily being charging under the sun.
The functionality that allows CarEye to notify emergency services providers such as 911 in the USA, depends on many factors. Even though this is quite possible for us to do with our current prototype because it is simply a call that needs to be placed to 911, we must ensure that 911 is capable of receiving a pre-recorded messages and act on them. Another challenge is how to relay the location information to the emergency service providers. A few cities have started implementing 911 via text messages, which would facilitate sending text such as "Child left alone inside white SUV, plates XXX-999 at location X".
CarEye uses a cell phone chip and a SIM card to place calls and alerts. It relies on the cell phone network to operate. Even though we have negotiated contracts for CarEye to work in many countries. There may be countries or certain cities where signal is not strong enough. We expect that as the technology and the product itself matures, we can find ways to provide even better connectivity to save our loved ones.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
