Pro athlete Bjarke Hellden tells his experience from testing all 4 prototypes of the JIYO shoe in this video:

The JIYO Flow is a shoe specially designed for parkour and freerunning to ensure total freedom of movement. We have worked with a leading shoe designer and our world class parkour athletes all over the world to develop a shoe that meets the high demands of a freerunner, but is still stylish enough to be used as your everyday sneaker.
We have tried several other shoes throughout many years, but we never felt like any of these met our high expectations. 1,5 years ago we started developing and testing our very own specialized shoe, that we are now proud to present.
To create this unique shoe, our main design objectives have been:
- Sole-grip
- Durability
- Flexibility
- Comfort
- Style
In short, it's the parkour / freerunning shoe we have always needed, and the first shoe we can fully recommend.

Another first is that the shoe comes in more sizes than ever before. Our sizing scheme means that everybody down to a size EUR 35 / US 4 / UK 3 can experience total freedom of movement. We have experienced that a lot of kids have trouble finding great shoes for parkour.

GRIPPY

For us at JIYO, grip is the most important feature of a freerunning shoe. Whether it's the horizontal grip to increase our running speed or vertical grip to provide perfect bounces off walls, the grip is essential when you wish to move freely in your environment. For that purpose we have developed a proprietary sole pattern that not only provides great grip out of the box, but actually gets better over time as you wear the soles with your personal style of movement. The sole is meant to be worn and to adapt, which is why it's made to minimize the risk of pebbles that can possibly harm the grip in your next training.
FLEXIBLE

For freerunners, flexible footwear is of the essence. We need our shoes to be able to land flat on gravel paths and concrete starts, but also to wrap around handrails and roof edges. The shoe's adaptation to the environment gives you the tactile feedback you need to move freely and safely through the urban landscape.
To secure the necessary flexibility in our shoe, we have chosen to produce the sole in grade-A high abbrassion rubber. The high percentage of mesh in the upper shoe also contributes to the overall flexibility of the shoe.
DURABLE

Quality freerunning footwear can be costly, so we of course want your JiYo Flows to last as long as possible. To secure maximum durability, we have made the outer sole of the shoe thicker than the ones found on other freerunning shoes. A new rubber suggested to us by our manufacturing partner allows us to do this without sacrificing flexibility in the shoe.
Our proprietary sole pattern is also designed with durability in mind. The surface of the sole has none of the large gaps of regular running shoes. This eliminiates the risk of destructive pebbles sticking in the sole. The absence of gaps also minimizes the number of places from which the sole can start tearing.
COMFORTABLE

Through conversations with our athletes, we became aware of the need for comfort. When they tested the first versions of the shoes, they found that their feet got warm and tired in the shoes.
To solve that problem, we replaced the original canvas with a light, breathable mesh in all non-tension areas of the shoe. The mesh makes the shoes breathable and comfortable for you to wear all the way through your long training sessions.

Team JiYo started in 2002 as a group of freerunning and parkour enthusiasts, being the pioneers in Denmark.
The founders, Martin & Ilir have been gymnasts and dancers their whole lives, but after moving to the Danish capital Copenhagen they both felt limited in their movements. That's when they discovered parkour - the discipline of urban movement. Using the techniques of parkour and freerunning, the newly started team found that they could move across the cityscape with the same natural ease as they could in the practice rooms they were so accustomed to.
Since the team's infancy in the early 2002, it has grown to consist of some of the best freerunners in the world, who now collectively works to spread freedom of movement to an increasing number of people around the globe.

They do this by coaching kids and adults all over the globe, teaching the techniques of parkour and freerunning.
The team's ambassadors and pro athletes regularly post videos on social media, that inspire young freerunners to train with dedication and discipline, so that they too can experience JIYO's purpose.
Another key element in securing freedom of movement, apart from training and inspiration, is having the right workout gear.
Team JiYo has already launched their own popular line of clothing, that makes moving around the city scape easier than ever before.
Untill now we haven’t been able to find the perfect shoe that meet the high demands freerunners all over the world need for their footwear.
Either they are not grippy enough, flexible enough or durable enough.
That’s why we have now taken the challenge into our own hands and created our own parkour shoe as we think it should be.
We hope you’ll like it as much as we do.
Thank you so much for your support - it means everything!
