Update about the sudden cancellation and plans for re-launch

Dear Backers,

With your amazing support, we reached and surpassed our initial goal within 5 hours.

In view of the many requests to better see and understand how the Scribble Pen and Scribble Stylus works, we are currently shooting another video in more depth which will be available sometime next week .

However, We received an email from kickstarter dated 08/12/14 requesting a new and more illustrative video within 24 hours, so we had to cancel the project with hopes of restarting it again  with a much more detailed video.

We fully assure you that there is no reason to panic and our team is doing its very best to come up with a much better and very informative video that will put all your questions and concerns to rest.

And as soon as our new video is ready we will re-launch the project.

We deeply apologise for any and all inconveniences this may have caused you and kindly ask that you bear with us as we do our very best to make this project a success.

We will keep you updated with a re-launch date shortly.

Thank you all for your continuous support, pledges and encouragement!

      @ Marie-Françoise Houbiers

It would be possible to order multiple Ink cartridge sets and nib sets when we relaunch, as we'll include special pledge levels for those.

Thank you for your support up to now.

    2. Marie-Françoise Houbiers on August 15, 2014

I Chose the pledge $199 because it was the first price for a set with nibs and ink set. I would like to say that if it is not possible to order more than one ink cartridge set, I will not pledge again because I don't want to pay $15 for shipping for only this device. It could be better for customers outside US to propose complementary offer for additionnal ink sets or nibble sets.

      @JB
Thanks for taking the time to write. We will be notifying all our subscribers well ahead of time before the next launch, so you can rest assured that you won't miss out on our early bird specials. Thanks for your support up to now!

So whats up with my EB pledge? I was one of the very first backers and dont want to miss out at a relaunch

This makes zero sense. Seems like they saw all the backing and maybe now want to hike up the price. Whew! $300 back in my wallet. Odd that they also had options to purchase refurbished pens.....already. If this ever does launch, might be better to just buy at regular consumer price. I'm sorry, I just don't get it (literally and figuratively).

Something not right here. @Scribble: if you don't deliver the video in 24H, what will happen ? Will KickStarter cancel the project ? Isn't it the same with what you have done here ?

I agree with some of you here. For 310 projects that I have backed, this is the first time I heard KickStarter asks more depth video and ONLY give project creator 24H. In other side, you could take simple video in 24H, does not have to be like Pro video shoot. I think we are backers don't mind that. Even, sometimes it proves that the product is exist.

Cancelling the project is not a wise decision (at least it is what I am thinking). It has a lot of negative impact.

My SUPER EARLY BIRD is suddenly dead. Does it mean 'Ha I closed current project and wanna make new one bacause my condition is getting worse. Bye unlucky guys. Try again'? Lier is the worst human. If this is in stock market, you quit from market. I think you are not respect for customers. Bye.

    8. Liz Phillips on August 13, 2014

PLEEEEEASE honor the existing prices for us early birds! I was SOOOOO excited that I jumped on board as soon as I heard, and I got the $149 option. If that becomes unavailable, $199 might prove to be beyond my price range. If this truly was the ridiculous mixup you claim it was, then you should still reward your first set of backers.

I can see my SUPER EARLY BIRD SPECIAL fly away now. I am not sure I will back the re-launch if all the early birds are gone when I get the opportunity to pledge.

    10. Scribble Technology Creator on August 13, 2014

We take the integrity of the Kickstarter system very seriously and we're working to create a new video that clearly shows the device's current functionality and demonstrates the range of features described on the project page

it was incredibly difficult to click the cancel button on Kickstarter, but we're optimistic about the future.

You mean, I'm going to lose out on my opportunity to get an early bird discount on getting robbed?

    12. Ronnie J Darling on August 13, 2014

So, there was no actual video that showed it working, and people reported it as suspicious, so now we all lose our pricing? This sounds like something you would have been ready for instead of redoing the whole campaign. In the event that you really do have this ready, and you make the video and restart it, I have a feeling a lot of people will refuse to take part in the campaign because it's been poorly handled. The pricing was more than ridiculous for your estimated sale to the public and you had insufficient numbers for early bird specials,. but people were looking forward to this campaign for months and happily backed it, like myself. You certainly didn't even include ballpoint pen and notebook pictures for us to see that. The purchase plans were confusing, and the ultimate costs were quite expensive.

    13. David on August 13, 2014

Thank you for explaining. One thing I would suggest is more information on the differences between the items you are offering, it would make for less questions...

    14. Holly on August 13, 2014

Do we still get the good rewards we got first time around?

Not a good way to market your product, as you're sowing distrust within the first couple of days. I am interested to see what happens, but am now reluctant to kick in my significant amount because it feels like you have some VC whispering in your ear to shut down and reprice based on demand. If Kickstarter is demanding you prove this isn't vaporware, send them a video from someone's phobe. Best wishes, but you guys have marred your reputation in the eyes of this consumer...be more transparent with your messaging. We will understand.

    16. MF Calub on August 13, 2014

Since you already have a working prototype, I would suggest getting a booth somewhere and have random people try it out and videotape their expressions, reactions, and comments.

I just read through a lot of the earlier comments and those folks are correct. Your current video barely shows the product in action.

I do not doubt that KS sent you a video request because a few of your more vigilant and experienced backers, who have had the unfortunate experience of being scammed on KS, reported the project as being suspicious.

    17. Wanda Sanchez on August 13, 2014

Wow! I'm quite puzzled myself. However, let's just see how this goes and how the perks come up when relaunched. Good luck! ;)

    18. Steve Fish on August 13, 2014

Well, this is clearly not the truth. You can smell it from across the internet. Just kool-aid for the hopeless. Done. Done. Done.

    19. Rose on August 13, 2014

I don't quite understand, I've seen projects without videos before. AND to post an update this morning when you should have already known about said email that was dated 8/12 seems a little weird... not sure I want to reback this even though I'm super excited. Plus, I doubt I'll get the perk I was at (and not to mention I've been following this project for a while....) so why not be up front about it in the beginning?

I think that if this is true about kickstarter requesting a cancelation because of confusion , then they should request kickstarter to send out a private email with an apology to all backers . I would also hope that all the backers are send a private message to repledge at the same level when it starts up again .

Is there an email address at Kickstarter where we can write to protest this demand/decision? seems like they're not being reasonable, given the circumstances.

Is this a cheeky way of making a price hike? And what about people (like myself) who had SUPER EARLY BIRD specials; will these be honoured?

      seems fishy to me.

Cancelling a project that's already funded more than $350k on the 2nd day because of a turnaround video in 24 hrs..

There must be a hidden agenda.

wait? Kickstarter requested a new video within 24 hrs, so a new video was not going to happen within that time frame thus the project was cancelled? I am not sure I am following. I assume this kickstarter e-mail said to have a new video up within 24 hrs or the would cancel the project? Is that what happened? Was did kickstarter request a new video? Did kickstarter want a more in-depth video, just as the one you were preparing to make?

As long as there is not a price hike, then I for one will continue to back them. If there is, however, then they will have one less backer, for what little bit my $295 is worth...

    30. frederic tarabout on August 13, 2014

They requested a video for which reason? Like a proof video that shows you can really build this?
