Team Comedy Video on a Sunday

12 days to go before the end of our Kickstarter campaign for GODUS.

It's Sunday again! Videogames are meant to be fun, not misery. While making games is hard work, we also love it so much and are very passionate about it. Last week more people on the 22cans team moved onto the development of GODUS. Sam, our in-house video maker pulled everyone in front of a camera to ask them a few off-the-cuff questions. Taking Renato Carosone's 'Tu Vuò Fa' L'Americano' for inspiration, he made a comical 'meet the team' video. Seeing the team be realistic, have a brain-freeze or just the way that it's edited, this is meant to be a fun video. Something that makes you happy just listening to it. Sam wanted to tell a story but also reward viewers for watching each consecutive shot, have stuff to discover. Renato Carosone's video clip does this as well; from someone playing with their teeth to someone playing two saxophones simultaneously. If you want to see GODUS running on a big TV then be sure to watch it to the end and please enjoy it.

The art team also made several images to show the add-ons that you can add to your pledge.

      @Michael If this fails, there probably won't be a new kickstarter. I believe I read somewhere you cannot repost a project for 7 months, so they'd have to use Indiegogo if they wanted to do this again.
      Also, I think they'll either go to a publisher (which would be a shame) or they'd just drop Godus (which would be an even greater shame)

      - I wonder if he will be using in multiplayer lan party? It would be nice if we could make a faq with all the current information there is about the game (in the videos). This would ease translation, to reach a greater number of people.
      - Water (sea) going to react with the destruction (waves)? First example: will he power tsunami? A click on the water and the waves orientaion. Second example: will he huge waves rocks (such as a power meteorites), or trees falling into the water, "a power earthquake with rocks rolling in the mountain and falling into the sea ..
      Can you take care of Sara, she needs to sleep!
      I will give a lot of attention on the welfare of Sara.
        Masochism at its limits: Spanish living in England and working on a project of Sir Molyneux! Is not it too much? ;-) Take care of her, please! :) I love his work! :)

      I hate intro screens but sometimes they are used to mask a resources loading, so they make them unskippable (but sometimes developers are just evil and make them boring :D)

      Hi there, I've got a few remarks and questions :
      First, the "good/evil" or alignment. I'm not a great fan, it's too manichean. There are different ways to do good and to paraphrase christians (and others) : the ways of the gods are impenetrable !
      You cast a volcano on your folks, that's evil, but it makes the land more fertile, it's a long run !

      Also, a few thing that upset me in B&W2 :
      - Unskipable logos intro (lionhead, ati, blabla, I wanna play right when I launch the game ! ),
      - Irrelevant information : You can display specific information about characters, buildings, etc; but you get either not what you're looking for, or a mass of information you just don't know what to do with.
      - Cheating B*$*@d computer : Will the AI play by the same rule as us ?

      And finally, what every backer's wondering, what will happend to the game if and when it's not funded ? Will you relauch the kickstarter at a lower level ? (that would be my prefered option, and I know that, for obvious reason, you won't say "we will do it anyway without kickstarter money" until the kickstarter fails).

      Oh man, for a split second I could see someone scrolling past a rather large landscape. That looked absolutely fantastic.

      Greatly looking forward to the prototype (and I really hope you manage to find enough backers through Kickstarter!) With less than two weeks, I'm getting nervous about it. Hopefully, people will come in as the deadline comes closer. I don't suppose there's any way to extend the Kickstarter period?

      Just backed £20 for the game, really hope it goes well!
      Watching through all the updates now, and this looks like a really good idea

      My only thoughts to add so far are about the Vs multiplayer and the "Morality" systems, and how they g together:
      If what has been said a few times is true (that you don't directly control your followers), how exactly do you get them to attack the enemy or defend themselves? My thoughts would be that you have to slowly influence them to do what you want, in benevolent or evil ways.
      For example, throwing the odd fireball at a civilization would probably make them not like you so much, less likely to do what you want, and even build some defenses against you.
      On the other hand, if you drop a few cows in their pens, they'd feel better about you and less inclined to attack you and possibly not even expect an attack from your followers, despite the warnings of their own deity
      And if you were really evil, you could pretend to be another god (at a much higher cost), and set fire to your own people's homes, in order to make them rush off to war with your enemy.

      Most importantly, these would give a reason to do evil acts against your own people, because as it is, you'd imagine that keeping your people as happy as possible and alive as possible would be the way to win, and there would be no real reason to be evil

      Either way, good luck with the kickstarter

      You guys are doing great with the updates ;) loved meeting the team, we as backers want to make sure youve all got an enjoyable job in Godus to work on, for the foreseeable future, I think you'll meet the goal plus a bit in the end, and if your updates keep improving as they do, things will go well I think.

      Try and keep the spontaneity comradrie and fun alive in the office its important because that energy will find its way into the game, one comment > the way the people are shaping up at the moment they're looking a little too tall, realistic and regular, throw in some math to vary their weight and height comedically so their either all overweight or skinny and crooked ?, we need them to be humourous little buggers so we dont feel too guilty when they get squished fried or battered by the natural forces. I loved the humour used with the powers in the original populous lightning carbonised little people crumbling etc with blinking eyes or am i imagining it ?

      @Gregory Wollf: -The level of publicity makes me think it will surpass it's goal. It's got a steady tick atm and a surge in the last week will come I could guess. Also a video of some stuff would be a big big hit I anticipate.

      I'm sure everyone at 22 Cans is aware of how the kickstarter is going. I for one am quite worried that it is going to fail. All predictions and trending reports say well below your goal. I see that you are trying to get your name out there, but my goodness it's not looking very good right now. What are you going to do if you don't meet your goal?

      Also, if you do manage to meet it, how many 'civ types' or 'building types' will there be? Will we be able to edit them or select different building styles? I very much fancy Egyptian style buildings over Roman and Norse.

      If editing videos like this wasn't so time-consuming I'd have suggested doing all videos like this henceforth. Though it wouldn't really work when trying to seriously discuss game ideas.
      How about a 'fly-on-the-wall' type of video taped during an actual 22Cans design meeting though? Could that work?

      Addon suggestions:

      Hoodie/sweatshirt/teeshirt showing the 'green hills' and logo image from the project home page or the tornado concept art with the landscape and followers?

      Maybe some cheaper jewellery (silver/pewter) too, different design so as not to devalue the Deity tier? Might help with the Christas presents aspect of the pledging.
