Well, the alpha's available as of today - and from $10 and up (for access from the game as of now, incl Steam codes) we can follow this game until its release in Nov. Great news for us all - now let's put our wallets where our mouths are, and support them.
It sucks it didn't happen, I loved the concept, hopefully you can relaunch it. I just began my own kickstarter project Dogfight Elite done with unity too :) wish me luck!

Folks, if you do attempt a second kickstarter, I suggest maybe you consider partnering with one of the UK developers who have raised money via the US kickstarter site. From memory, Stainless Games setup a US domiciled entity to take raise funding on the US kickstarter site. That might have more appeal to your target audience. You do however assume the FX risk yourself and potentially you could use cable CFD's to hedge against the sterling/dollar move. I don't have any empirical evidence but my impression is that medium sized UK Kickstarters struggle to fund. New IP makes it even more difficult. My theory is that UK kickstarters appear prima facie expensive to the US audience.
Open B could be joining Slight Mad Studio’s World of Mass Development portal. It does involve profit share though so not sure if this would be an option.
It's sad, Death Inc. certainly deserved to be kickstarted. It had all the ingredients of an awesome game (still has). It even had the endorsement of legends :(

This is too bad, well just keep the momentum going and start a new Kickstarter campaign with different pay method options and use the marketing and PR you got towards the end. I know this will be funded, because gamers want something good and a little different from other games, just like Death Inc. Thank you very much for all your (fun) updates and your dedication. @Yazorius: I don't think the language barrier is that high, given kickstarter is an english platform. Problem in localization is that it costs without adding content to the game.
And personally, I prefer media in the original language (as long as I can understand it), as normally narratives loose when being translated. May be a spleen.
However, I can see your point. Maybe looking for community help on translations would be a solution?

take hart we fought wel,l, the death inc community was great.. Its about more than one project keep fighting for what you value and don't let the doom mongers get to you.
Vraiment dommage. Ce jeu avait l'air d'être original et bien conçu. Le soutien de figures emblématiques comme Peter Molyneux avait tout pour attirer le chaland : peut-être pas assez de publicité sur les réseaux sociaux (même si c'est là que j'ai entendu parler de votre projet). En espérant de tout coeur le voir proposé à nouveau sur Kickstarter, avancé de quelques mois pour intéresser les personnes qui hésitent (avec pourquoi pas la prise en charge de quelques langues européennes supplémentaires ^_^).
A pity this wasn't funded. I wonder if this means that the kickstarter audience is 90% focused on remakes of classic games.

Really really sad to see this didn't get funded. There is a dire need for a game like this in the market. I hope the Ambient team doesn't take this as a negative step and comes back in full force! I WANT to see Death Inc. back!
Stunned that this didn't make it. It deserved to reach its goal on quality alone - not to mention its fun and passionate team and the numerous great updates. Heck, the updates alone were worth throwing money at.
I hope that this game sees the light of day sooner rather than later and hope that the devs will keep us updated on post-Kickstarter progress.
Yeah it is a bit weird if you look at the grand picture. Unique concepts like this struggle (same did Wildman) but the usual have seen that many times before like Tornement (nothing against Planescape Tornement definitely a great game back in its days) gets nearly a million bugs in a single day.

Tbh I think they would get less then 10-20k.
Another thing you guys can do, open a Paypal campaign. similar rewards to this, but you would get the money right away, and a majority of the backers will come back and donate the share they wanted. You wont get 300k, but you can still make 120k to help with development.
I know that I would for sure do that.
My take on it :
Fix some things ( digital tiers, video with gameplay demonstration, PR ), wait a little and relaunch with a little lower goal and some non essential things in it (coop and all that jazz). If you relaunch in a short time, it will take one week to come at 120K again. The rest of the way is absolutely doable for 200-250k.
Anyway to look at it, nearly 4000 backers and 120k is a pretty good showing for a brand new concept :)
Sad to see that project failed to be founded. Hope you'll manage to release it without the KS money, and I'll be looking for it after the summer holidays ;)

@ Robert/Stephen; As you can see from posts from me and Joachim there is room for improvement and a lot of things that you see now were improved much later during the KS.
A relaunch in the future with more beforehand PR could do much better.
@Hymer: Agreed. This campaign has raised my expectations for what a Kickstarter campaign should be.
@Talos: Also, it would be a mistake to lower the goal more than they can afford on the hope / assumption that they'll end up getting more funding, and I think they know that. We have to keep in mind that they have a whole team -- not just the couple of guys who have done the interviews -- and that's not cheap. This game is very ambitious (especially with the portability).
If we think about it in terms of salary, the £300,00 can provide a £50,000 salary for 6 people for a single year. That's not much, and that doesn't cover other expenses related to the creation of the game. Granted, there may be other sources of income, but essentially, it's still not a lot of money for a big project with a large team.
Hopefully it will relaunch or be invested in elsewhere. Maybe redo some tiers. The £ might put some people off with that not being offset by the picture, which nearly put me off as a UK resident but I understand why it was needed.

I just stumbled upon this project, threw all of my remaining money in the pot, because I REALLY want this to happen. It looks amazing, it's got all of my favourite things (exploding cows, anyone?), and the team was part of making some of the best and most entertaining games I've ever played. Assuming this doesn't make it, I hope you still go ahead with it, or relaunch it, or do whatever it takes to get it out there. I'll be behind you whatever you choose to do!
@Talos: A "better planned out" relaunch campaign? This campaign was VERY well executed across all fronts. Design, updates, rewards, end-product, interaction, press coverage etc. How exactly would you suggest they do "better", other than lowering the goal?
I wish I could afford to give more... I've upped my pledge, but can't afford to go higher right now. I really hope some miracle happens in the next 10 hours to get this thing funded.
I don't put money on much, but this.... This is pretty much my ideal game. Please let it go ahead in some form.
every backer should increase his pledge by 50£, and every little thing is gone be alright ^^
I agree with the smaller initial goal and get the excitement going by teasing us with stretch goals and pledge upgrades that can be sorted out at the end.
I do agree with most comments below: A better planned-out relaunch might just do it.... My experience from (viewing) Kickstarter projects: Small goal and a LOT of stretches. £150k? or even £100k? And stretches every £25k? With that, once funding is reached, more people join with "assurance of funding" and you'd probably be able to reach the 300k or more.

I love the design of game but one thing that always comes up when I pitch it to my friends is that they don't like the art stile at first. Maybe a new first picture more "realistically" drawn to lure ppl in... just a thought for a relaunch. You will have my money if you decide to try again.

I agree with the reason stated under my post. As for myself can not agree more than there is some missing tier between 100 et 250£ and some digital tier (i have gone for the 250£ tier but let's be honest i did that to help out, as i have no interest in goodies, and i hate paying for ships thingy (rather put tht money on the game)).
