About the Film
Blood, Sweat, and Beer is a feature documentary about the explosive growth of the craft beer industry and the dramatic journeys of two start-up breweries.
The film follows a trio of 23-year-olds as they struggle to start The Brew Gentlemen Beer Company in Braddock, PA. Matt, Asa, and Brandon hope their brewery will help this once-prosperous steel
town bounce back from decades of neglect, violence, and
The film also tells the emotional story of Danny Robinson, a boardwalk brewery owner and restaurateur whose empire is threatened by an aggressive trademark lawsuit that could leave him penniless.
Four entrepreneurs, two brand new breweries, and one ultimate goal: to quench the thirst of the craft-craving masses.
Current Status & Why We Need You
After filming and editing for over a year, we have a very solid rough cut. The finish line is incredibly close and we are on track to finalize the film in early October.
So far, we’ve done everything ourselves on this project: producing, directing, cinematography, editing, motion graphics, sound, travel.... To date, the film has been entirely financed by our personal savings. Gulp!
Now, we need some help from others and support to get Blood, Sweat, and Beer taken to the next level, technically-speaking. Your generous donation will help with the finishing costs of the film: sound mixing, color correction, music licensing, mastering, and film festival submission fees.
If you love craft beer and supporting independent film, please consider donating and telling as many people as you can about Blood, Sweat, and Beer. You can truly make a difference and help us share these amazing stories with the world. Cheers!
The Regular Edition DVD
The DVD will include the film, deleted scenes, a director's commentary, and a commentary from Matt, Asa, Brandon, and Danny. If we have space, we'll add some other cool features and bonus footage as well.
The Special Edition DVD
The Special Edition will have everything in the regular edition DVD + a "1 year later" epilogue with Matt, Asa, Brandon, and Danny, dozens of interviews with the great breweries, beer personalities, writers, and experts that we couldn't fit in the film, and behind the scenes footage from our upcoming film tour.
The Digital Download
With the digital copy, you will be able to download the film, stream it online, and watch it anywhere/anytime. The digital download includes the film only and not any of the bonus features.
We're hoping to screen the film at film festivals and special events, beginning in early 2015.
Our goal is to release the DVD and the digital download before the end of 2015.
The Special Edition DVD will be released in early 2016. However, those backers will not be left empty handed and will receive a digital copy when the digital version / regular DVD is released.

Risques et défis
The big goal for any film is to get your movie seen. Independent films without the marketing budget of a major studio can find it challenging to advertise in the way a blockbuster movie does. However, what we lack in advertising dollars, we plan to make up for in creativity and hard work.
In early 2015, we hope to premiere our documentary at film festivals across the country. The goal of attending film festivals is to create buzz about the film, generate reviews, and find a distributor. Our big dream is that a distributor would get the film on TV, Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, DVD/Blu-Ray, and possibly do a limited theatrical run.
In addition to traditional distribution, we have plans to do a nation-wide tour with Blood, Sweat, and Beer. Next spring, we will be contacting beer festival organizers and independent movie theater owners around the country to set up screenings of our film.
Finally, we will be self-distributing our film through our website www.BloodSweatBeerMovie.com. To do this, we've partnered with an awesome indie film hosting platform: VHX. (They also host other amazing independent docs like Indie Game, Mistaken for Strangers, and the upcoming Harmontown documentary).
In short, we'll be exploring every possible distribution option we can to get this film out there. We've learned as independent filmmakers that you need a plan, a back-up plan, and a back-up for the back-up plan. We're shooting for the stars with this movie, and we're determined to share Blood, Sweat, and Beer with as many craft beer and film lovers as possible.
Thank you for your support, it means the world. Cheers!
