About

Key Points:

  • PreShow is a "game changing" idea for the creation of lIve shows of all kinds including special events, performing arts and community gatherings.
  • A Beta testing version of the application is already available and has received rave reviews from writers, directors and stage managers.
  • We have a strong backer in the Canada Media Fund (CMF) who will fund 75% of PreShow's launch with $177,000.  We need to raise $59,000 as our matching 25% to go forward with the project.
  • Despite the strong CMF commitment private investment has been elusive which is why we have turned to Kickstarter, which allows us to raise money through small individual contributions.
  • Help us reach our funding goal of $59,000 with a pledge and you will receive:
    a) Access to the final version of PreShow at a huge discount,
    b) Some nice gifts,
    c) The satisfaction of helping to put PreShow into the hands of every professional, educational and community creator of live shows.
  • This project is urgent because it has a short window of opportunity due to of health and funding deadlines.
  • All or nothing - We only get the Kickstarter money if meet or exceed our funding target of $59,000.
  • To help fund this project click "Back This Project" - the big green button to your right.

I’m Dying But This Project Doesn’t Have To…

Over the past several years I’ve led a small social profit organization working on PreShow, a software application which will radically improve the process of creating live shows. I’ve also been undergoing treatment for a terminal form of prostate cancer. While I’ve benefited from many new therapies, the reality is, I’m now running out of options.

While it’s clear I need to pass the torch on the leadership of our group, all of us remain committed to launching PreShow.

Ironically, just as my final deadline approaches, our software is hitting its stride. PreShow is now available as a live BETA application at gopreshow.com, and has just received approval for a substantial Canada Media Fund (CMF) investment. To unlock these CMF funds, and to launch PreShow, we must raise matching funds of $59,000.

Our KickStarter funding goal is therefore $59,000. Please help us with a contribution by clicking one of the pledge levels on the right of this page. Your contribution to this campaign will give this project life.

Your Contribution x 4

Turning $59,000 into $236,000! When we reach our funding goal, the Canada Media Fund will match us three to one. Help us meet our goal and the value of your pledge will quadruple.

What the Money Will Do

With the money raised in this campaign we will:
  • Make PreShow better and easier to use - By incorporating all of the feedback we've received from our Beta version we will streamline the User Interface while adding the most requested new feature - Import/Export of Word files.
  • Get the word out - PreShow will help every show reach its full potential, and we intend to prove that to you. This means getting a lot of eyes onto PreShow through social networking, conferences, targeted one-to-one meetings and a comprehensive media and marketing campaign.
  • Offer real help - Creating a show is a unique and demanding process. So when you contact PreShow for help, you should reach someone who knows what they're talking about.
  • Make PreShow affordable - Nobody ever has enough money in their budget, so PreShow will cost only $10 per team member, making it indispensable and affordable for every show.

Why Use PreShow?

Every show must overcome three chronic problems
  • Limited Resources - Creating a show is ever more difficult under the pressures of limited funding and shrinking resources.
  • Spiralling Technology - We live in a digital age, and yet we have no dedicated tools to capture and make sense of the growing mountain of information, and the quagmire of mixed file formats needed to put together a show.
  • Decentralized Workspace - Increasingly we find ourselves trying to maintain production standards and creative integrity while juggling multiple projects and collaborating in an ever more decentralized world.

The Solution: PreShow, a dedicated show-creation platform that lets you overcome these hurdles and focus on what matters most — great shows.

What is PreShow?

One central workplace that captures the whole show

  • Everyone on the same page — Starting with the script or a written outline, creative and production teams add details in the form of images, notes, and links. Every detail gets attached in context to a specific moment in the show. As the show evolves, the preview evolves along with it, keeping everyone on the same page.
  • Change the way you work, without changing the way you work — PreShow lets you define who needs to see what, and when. It alerts you to changes that affect you as they are made, e.g. if a character is added or cut from a scene, the impacts to costumes, lighting, sound, rehearsal and budget are all plain to see. PreShow illuminates the creative conversation you already use and radically improves your ability to craft the show.

PreShow is designed to work on the creation of live shows, but we’re confident it will also work on the development of other creative projects that have one central document at their core — think film scripts. Check out the live Beta and learn more.

Both companies are committed to using the latest technology to create new and better ways of solving the age old challenges of creating a show. Lionel has had multiple careers as a stage manager, IT manager, editor and publisher. His commitment to both the arts and technology have inspired him to found CADalyst magazine, the Melusine Foundation, WilliamOnWeb and PreShow.

James Pollard - CEO

James leads PreShow with three decades of experience in show production as a technical director, production manager, general manager and producer. He has worked with major arts organizations, corporate and community events, and in the film and television industry.  James was central in the creation of new cultural infrastructure, including ActSafe BC, The Playhouse Production Centre, The Roundhouse Arts Centre, The PAL Theatre and the newly renovated Malkin Bowl.

With your help we can make this happen

Thanks you for your interest and contribution.  We are so excited about what PreShow can do and about getting it into your hands.

Risks and challenges

The first and most obvious challenge we face in launching PreShow is my health. Along with the normal business risks all startup companies face, we also have to face the reality of my terminal cancer. Fortunately, the treatments I am on allow me to stay active and engaged. Although these treatment options are dwindling, I remain passionate about making a difference while I can and am committed to making PreShow a reality.

Beyond my health, getting PreShow launched will involve two basic business challenges:
1) Making sure PreShow is more than just another App. While we do not have any direct competitors, everyone already has a process for getting their show done. Our job is to make you understand why PreShow is so good, and to make you and everyone who works on creating shows wonder how you ever worked without it.
2) Making sure PreShow does not languish unknown and unused. The toughest thing a startup has to do, is to get the word out about their product. Leading up to and after the launch of PreShow, we have a comprehensive plan to reach large producers and individuals alike.

To get all this done I have surrounded myself with a dream team who are committed to getting this job done. Thanks for joining the team by making a pledge and sending us your suggestions on upgrading the Beta to a live version of PreShow.
