18XX games are a genre of railroad games that are chess-like: the only random element in the game is the seating order; after that, it's a battle of wits to see who is the craftiest stock trader and railroad operator. Players invest in railroad companies, and use those companies to lay track, buy trains, and run those trains to generate dividends for the stockholders. The winner is the player with the highest net worthat the end of the game.
The 18XX genre of games began in 1978 with the publication of Francis Tresham's 1829: The Great Game of Railways. Many 18XX games have been published over the years, using the same hexagonal track tile system to represent train track routes. I have licensed the 18XX logo from Mayfair Games, Inc., in recognition of Mr. Tresham's profound design work.
18CZ is a game of the 18xx family that is set in Czechia.
18CZ is unique as it uses three different corporation sizes, three different train types, three different Local Railway sizes. A bigger company can absorb smaller companies. Local Railways have certain properties: they may build certain track tiles or safe terrain costs.
Here is a good review:
Special feature: The 2-player-version!
There is an extra game board with special rules for 2 players. A dummy player called "Vaclav" plays with 3 companies. For each company one player decides how to place track tiles, the other where to place a station marker.
See the complete additional rules at my website: www.lonny.at
The game is labeled in English and German and comes with English and German rules. A special Czech edition is distributed by "Fox in the box": http://foxinthebox.cz/18cz.html
The game is professionally made like "1844/54" from Mayfair Games / Lookout Games. I cooperate with David Hanacek from "Fox in the Box". Here is a link to his website: http://foxinthebox.cz/18cz.html
In the video you see the self-build prototype. The final product comes with mounted game board. Company Charters and all cards come with matte lamination (not only dispersion varnish).
The box weighs approx. 2,2 kg (4.9 pounds)
If you wish I can add game money with your picture on it. Available only with this kickstarter campaign.
Mounted board for the Pre-Share Round (instead of two sheets of paper).
Mounted share-board added.
Risks and challenges
This is my first kickstarter project. But already my 6th 18xx game I have developed. As with any project that involves the production and manufacture of goods to be delivered, there is are always a chance for set backs, delays and production issues. I have already contact to experienced partners in manufacturing and fulfillment and are working hard with them to mitigate as much risk as possible. I will make sure to communicate all issues related to the project from the first day of the campaign to the day the game reaches your doorstep.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
