Have a question?
I have received the package - just had the chance to open it tonight. I only see 3 18CZ and a lot of Korean Books. I should be receiving 7 18CZ and 1 1880 RTP in the package. Can you please help?
You are right, there are only 40 exchange markers.
The additional 2 markers are one train marker for the Local Share Price index and one fox-in-the-box/Lonny marker for no meaningful use. With 40 markers each of the medium and each of the large companies have the same number of exchange tokens.
Got mine in Raleigh, NC and it looks fantastic. I did note that I only got 40 exchange markers but the rulebook states we should have 42. I'm assuming this is a typo. Can you clarify Lonny?
Mine got sent out pre essen to the US. It still shows as processed through a facility in Austria on the 18th as the last update
Anyone from the US has received it yet?
Eaglerly awaiting it.
I received 18CZ just now (Italy). Thanks, Lonny
Hi Lonny, sent you a message on the personalised notes for one of the seven copies I pledged for. Thank you.
The link to the backer kit isn't working for me either. Did work for anyone else?
The ks pledge manager does not work
Those bank notes would have been HUGE!
Yes, you are right. 1,18 inch by 1,5 inch. I am sorry.
30mm is about one and a quarter inches, not nearly twelve. I think you gave the Imperial equivalents based on centimetres, not millimetres.
Photograph: The picture should be at least 30mm by 38mm. That is 11,8 by 15 inch. 300 dpi. It can be larger, that makes it easier for me.
What size should the photographs be for the banknotes?
Congratulations!! I forgot to send you my photo for my personal money ,is it in time to send you now?
Well done Lonny!
@ Samuel: Yes, just add 10$ more, I have noted you and will give you a game with the personal money.
Hey Lonny, i juste pledged an Essen-pickup version. But is there a way to add 10$ to have a custom bill edition ?
@Richard: yes, I'm one of them...alas, no bites in my area! Kinda surprising actually since there are several 18XX fans in my group. But thanks for the thought :-)
While Lonny might not be working with a US Reshipper, there are several people trying to organize group orders on BoardGameGeek:
Perhaps there is a group local to you to help with the shipping costs?
Close to 4x funding, congrats Lonny!
Will the name of the region be changed to be more historically accurate, or will the recently dreamt up (and most likely short-lived) name of Czechia prevail?
@Martin: I think the design will be changed to be more historical accurate.
@Roger: 18CZ is only for 2-5 players. It is possible that I will post on my website rules for 6 players (to be certain: only one rule has to be changed :-) ). It takes some more time than 1830 because up to 15 companies can operate.
Hi guys, I have some really newbie questions.:
The only 18xx games Ive really played has been 1830 and 1846. How does this compare to 1830?
Does it play 6 players?
What is the estimated playtime?
I couldnt find any info, sorry if I missed it somehow.
Why does the new box cover art have an American train on it?
@Samuel: Ooops, I guess it got left on the editing floor, but I was trying to set up a metaphor between the sparse graphic design of the games and the info on the main campaign page. It does sound like Lonny is mostly responding via message, so hopefully he has reached out to you!
Also, today seems like a good day for 2 player variant info, even if some April 1st (accidental I assume) shenanigans direct you to a play by forum 1880 game. The rules can be viewed here: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/145451/18cz-rules-2-players
I also (as usual) enjoyed Ron's thought on the subject (even if I will likely never get a chance to play this 2 player): https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1749699/2-player-18cz-or-who-vaclav
@ Kenny, I understand that 18xx are minimalist by graphic design, I don't expect a fancy production. I also know that Heavy Cardboard have a 1846 playthrough, which is vey good. I just waned to see how the two player variant played out, because I haven't see it in other 18xx games. Anyway a simple 'not during this campaign' or 'not interested ' would suffice. I suppose communication is where I'm at.
@Samuel: I am guessing that what Garth was referring to is that this is an 18XX game, a well known and beloved system, by Lonny Orgler, a well known and beloved designer, so those "in the know" probably have enough info to be holding out fists, full of cash, "take my money, please!" Before I continue, quick caveat, I am not "in the know," I am just starting to explore the 18XX games, but I am loving them so far!
The games are... not known... for their stunning presentation (although I would argue that their graphic design is often wonderful and clear, which is more important I think) or their top notch components, but rather for their deep and compelling game play. So when a title like this, with beautiful, thick rail tiles comes along, I am very excited!
If the idea of sitting around with a few of your friends, building railroads and trying to grab stock in the ones that are doing the best, for 4-6 hours sounds interesting to you, You might want to look further into this game! If you like videos, I recommend checking out Heavy Cardboard's rules video and playthrough of 1846, if you have 4 hours (the rules are only about 35 minutes), or Board Game Blitz has a rules video for 1830, if 17 minutes is more your style ;-)
Anyway, if you have other questions I hope you feel free to ask!
@ Garth Tams, noted.
I agree with Tamburlain about putting the box image on BGG. I'd be happy to upload it myself if Lonny gives permission.
@ Samuel, if you are expecting a typical kickstarter, you are going to be sorely disappointed.
@ Jeremy - No waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Please consider replacing the representative cover of 18CZ on BGG with the awesome new box. Though superficial, it may attract more backers.
Cheaper USA shipping would be great
Any chance we'll get enough US backers to make it worth using a reshipper in the US, to cut down on those shipping fees?
I currently own two 18XX games; this is likely to be my third. :-)
If somebody wants more than one copy to pick up at Essen please click on the pledge "18CZ pick up option" and change the amount as seen in this table:
2 games for 150 €
3 games for 225 €
5 games for 365 €
7 games for 500 €
Please write a note to me that you pledged for more than one game to pick up.
What if I want to get two copies to pick up in Essen, what do have to do? Just up my pledge for the right amount?
To most of the comments I write a personal answer. So if you have the same question as already mentioned please give me a note.
@Amos: Yes, of course. Add 10 Euros for every set on personalized money and give me a note. After the campaign is finished I will contact all people who want personalized notes to send me pictures. It is possible to send me several pictures to have a different one on each note. I will explain that elaborately in my mail.
Considering it has almost tripled the funding goal.
Theres not much going on here information wise.
@Lonny Is there an option to add 10 euros per copy (of the 7 copies) if we want personalised notes? I've already pledged for the 7 copies but some may want personalised notes. Let me know and I'll adjust the pledge accordingly. Thanks!
Do you know when non-Essen orders will ship? I have a gaming event that happens mid November that I was considering creating a multiple copy order with, but since it is 8 hours away, I am concerned if it would arrive in time.
@lonny is there any way to add additional copies over 7? CLE / CBUS might be up for 11... just wanted to check
Phoenix is having 7 orders too!!!
Very excited for you, Lonny! Congrats. Looks like the Denver, Colorado area is in for 7 copies. :)
And I like the stretch goal idea of us doing a playthru of the game ;)
Scott, thank you for the hint. There was one word missing. The stretch goal should say: "Mounted share board added". The mounted shares were already in the basic game. Now that the stretch goal is unlocked: Yes, there will be a share board in the game.
Can we have 1880 as an add on to our pledge?
Lonny, it is good to hear that they will be like bridge or poker cards. I was concerned when I saw the stretch goal of "mounted shares" which likely means punchboard in the other locations it is called out like that on the page.
