The New Mexico Game Jam is a 48 hour game development challenge held across the entire state for one weekend during the summer. On Friday, August 19th, New Mexican game developers will convene at host sites to form teams and build games around a centralized theme. The jam concludes the following Sunday, August 21st, with these games immediately released to the public.
The NM Game Jam was founded in 2009 by a couple game developers shortly after their amazing experience at the inaugural Global Game Jam. These two couldn't wait another year for the chance to work non-stop on some amazing games, and decided to host an event for their fellow New Mexicans. The 2009 NM Game Jam was held in Albuquerque for a group of 12 people. The following NM Game Jam opened sites in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe with nearly 80 participants across the state. This year we expect an even larger turnout as more people take an interest in forming New Mexico's budding game development industry.
This rapid expansion has led the NM Game Jam to search for sponsor funds to help support each of the sites. We're looking to raise money to cover food budgets for each site (game devs need food badly) and subsidize the purchase of event t-shirts for all participants (and clean clothes after a long weekend of tireless game building). Our rewards will let you become a NM Game Jam Groupie and let you help shape this incredible event.
With your help you can become a part of history in turning New Mexico into the Game Land of Enchantment!
