I take photos all day long whether I am at home, on the train to work, at work, or volunteering at Connect Force Youth Program teaching photography. This project is specifically focused on my time as a flower delivery driver in Chicago. I go to places most people don't go, I meet crazy people, I get lost and see things from a unique perspective. The Zine is called "PAYDAY" and it will be displayed through a wallet. I did this because I work, as many do, every week to earn a paycheck, but if all we can take away from our time spent is money (while important), I feel like we are devaluing our lives. I take photos to show people the things that make my days interesting, boring, sad, happy, exciting and many other emotions. All these things are priceless to understanding ourselves and others around us. These things and the value I give them is what this zine will show beyond how we are usually able to communicate about our day to day lives. On top of photographs, I am including stories that I have experienced or have been told. I hope this allows you to enter my world as well and think about how you spend your days and live your life. Make it a PAYDAY everyday. Thanks for your support!
I will be using the money contributed to this project to print the photos and stories, buy the wallets and send them out to people.
***This video posted for the project is a taste of my time as a delivery driver lost in the Chicago Loop with my favorite partner in crime, Margie. Margie has been a "runner" in the loop for the past 20 years. She has the craziest stories and never allows for their to be a dull moment. Enjoy.
