"Three years ago I purchased a CD player for my car and was pleasantly surprised that it featured a USB port capable of reading and displaying content from a flash drive. I loved that the flash drive stored a large number of tracks, produced such a pure sound and never skipped like a CD. The only issue was that a flash drive looked ridiculous sticking out of the face of the device. This was also an issue on my lap top. I found that the flash drive would become entangled in the cords or would bend the USB port if the computer was sitting in my lap. I purchased a smaller flash drive that worked but found that it was very easy to misplace. The "ah ha" moment came to me one afternoon while transferring some files at work. The small flash drive was laying on my desk and I picked it up and placed it beside the bracelet I was wearing. I thought it would be neat if the drive went in and out of the side like a box of matches. I called my friend (and business partner) Ben Sweatman and told him about the idea. We agreed that the idea had tremendous potential so we put a plan into action."

"We discovered that portable file storage technology is evolving in such a way that on-the-go file sharing is quickly becoming a necessity at work, school, and in recreational settings. Starting in elementary schools, many students are required to store and backup data on their self supplied flash drives. Unfortunately, USB flash drives are not always convenient to carry, and they are easy to misplace or leave behind. The majority of business professionals and the world's work force have a need for file storage and management and hesitant to put their information in the "clouds". Even a growing number of elderly individuals will find the VIDRIVE useful. A VIDRIVE could be utilized to store a students most important files or granddads golf scores. VIDRIVE owners will also be able to load their medical information in case of emergency. The user will be able to interchange the flash drives, bands and face plates to suit his or her own preference.This makes the VIDRIVE a valuable and necessary component for people of all ages."
We have devoted 2 1/2 years to this project and have come a long way. We have managed to design and build 4 different prototypes using 3D printers and low production runs. The quality and aesthetics have improved dramatically with each design. We are very close to perfecting the product but need your help to achieve our ultimate vision which is to complete this project! With your help, we will continue to improve production to match, design and build high quality bracelets exceeding all other options on the market. There are major costs associated with creating the molds/casts for the bands and additionally the clasping mount or main body which holds the drive in place. In order for us to be able to offer different sizes (male, female, children's sizes) we will have to fabricate a mold for each design. We would like to provide a wide array of colors, patterns, textures and materials but need your help in order to do so.
Our goal is to have the VIDRIVE on all of our backers’ wrists before Christmas (December). We have identified a highly experienced manufacturer in the United States and are confident that they can handle the demand. They are producing similar sized parts for a yacht manufacturer at a rate of 500,000+ pieces per month. The most time consuming part of the process will be devoted to designing and carving the molds for these parts. Once the molds are made (6 weeks) the manufacturer will be able adjust production rates to fill the demand. We have also formed a working relationship with a reputable flash drive manufacturer. They have produced massive quantities of flash drive chips and are in a position to deliver 100,000+ flash drives a week. Another vital component will be distribution. We understand that this can be a complex process. We are working with a highly experienced distributor to help us deliver the VIDRIVE in a timely manner.
We would like to thank our friends, family and students at the local art institute who volunteered their time and effort to shoot and edit the videos. We look forward to bringing this idea to fruition! With your support we will deliver a fusion of technology and style!

Risks and challenges
We understand that there are risks and challenges involved with a project of this magnitude. Our primary concern is time and distribution. We would love to complete this project and deliver all of the rewards by tomorrow afternoon but know that there are way too many variables and not enough hours in the day to make that happen. Unforeseen delays originate from production, shipping and/or quality control. We plan to offer numerous colors, sizes, materials and textures. The most time consuming part will be designing and building a unique cast or mold for each option.
We are dedicated and driven to resolve any issues that may come our way. With adequate support, we can thoroughly test and develop stronger, more durable bracelets with secure flash drive components. We will go to great lengths to organize a very efficient method for design, production and delivery. Excess funding will be directed towards quality control and future advancements in technology. We will never loose sight of our mission to deliver a fusion of technology and style!
