Oh Geez! diapers by the Organically Green Company is one of the first fully biodegradable disposable diaper with no polymers and no known harmful chemicals. Our patent-pending technology creates a polyethylene (plastic) film that is made up of 100% bio-plastic that is easily degradable.
Oh Geez! diapers introduce an innovative technology for maximum absorbency within the diaper core, eliminating the need for SAP (super absorbent polymer) use in a disposable diaper. Oh Geez! diapers are a higher quality product, that will be less impact to our environment at a competitive price.
Disposable diapers have dangerous environmental drawbacks, that effect anyone that is living on planet earth. Regardless whether you are a parent or not, disposable diapers will impact you. A single disposable diaper is estimated to degrade in a landfill in approximately 250 to 500 years, and 27.4 billion diaper are consumed in the US alone each year. They release volatile organic chemicals that have been linked to adverse health effects in humans with long-term exposure. This planet belongs to all of us!
Benefits of Industrial Hemp
One thing you must know is that hemp is not the same as Marijuana. They are both in the Cannabis family, however the most notable difference is that hemp does not contain high levels of THC and it is not a psychoactive.
Hemp is the forgotten crop of American history. Hemp arrived in Colonial America in the form of seed for planting and as fiber in the sails of the Mayflower. The first drafts of the Declaration of Independence were penned on hemp paper. Henry Ford made his first car out of hemp plastics and it ran on hemp fuel.
Oh Geez! Diaper
The initiative of this Kickstarter campaign is to develop Oh Geez! diapers. At this time, we have secured vendors that can provide 100% organic hemp bio-mass by the ton at a very affordable price. Our production has been broken down into 3 phases:
We are enterting phase II
The Organically Green Company was founded by Mari Delgadillo, a Bay Area Native and a mother of two. Mari’s professional background is in sales, marketing and administration. After learning how long it took for a single diaper to degrade in a landfill and all the harmful chemicals that came in contact with her babies’ skin she sought a solution. Mari soon learned that there was no 100% biodegradable, SAP and chemical free disposable diaper available on the market. This motivated Mari to create a product that would not add more diapers to our landfills and offered transparency in its ingredients. Our founder is determined to create a gorgeous and lush disposable diaper, that is easy on our planet and within family budget.
Mari often takes a holistic approach to health through remedies that have been passed down from her ancestors. The use of cannabis as a holistic plant has been passed down in her family to create healing remedies such as rubbing alcohol and hemp leaves for arthritis. She saw an opportunity to use hemp cellulose for absorbency, and knew that hemp would be the key to creating a 100% biodegradable, compostable, SAP and chemical free disposable diaper, which would degrade within a years' time.
Risks and challenges
We may come across a couple hurdles before going to market such as, Educating the masses on the dangers of disposable diapers and why there is a need for a product such as Oh Geez! in the market. The education will be a huge part of our marketing campaign and introducing the product.
Oh Geez! is a high-quality product that will be sold at a competitive price. Ensuring that the cost per diaper stays on track with the average current cost, which is between $.17 to $.31 per diaper. Currently diaper production does not produce significant byproducts and often uses byproducts of other industries. We will continue that concept by recycling hemp bio-mass from other industries and use it to manufacture Oh Geez! this will allow us to keep the price of our diapers competitive.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
