I hope that everyone has had an incredible start to the year. I know I have. The writing, designing, publishing, and marketing processes have been the epitome of exciting, and I have a number of things to report back to all of you. I know I've said it a ton of times already, but to my backers, thank you so much for helping me make this book a reality.
The book was officially published on November 8th, 2012. On December 3rd, Destination: Teach For America became the #1 Best-Seller in the Amazon Kindle store for "Education Leadership." It stayed at #1 for a couple of days, and then dropped back out of the top spot (it is a fluid system based on current sales). Then, on January 18th, it reached the #1 spot again in the same category, and held there for more than 10 days. It has flirted with the top spot since then; currently, it sits at #3 in "Education Leadership." To see its current rank, click Destination: Teach For America - Kindle and scroll down to "Product Details," right above my picture.
Since publication, I have had an article featured in The Huffington Post, a letter to the editor published in The New York Times print edition, and had a blog post on Simply Hired shared nearly 1,000 times across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms. I was interviewed by Mixed Race Radio in early December, have had a few other media mentions, have been in communication with a number of education leaders across the country. Needless to say, it's been a busy and exciting few months.
If you have had a chance to read/skim the book, it would mean the world to me if you would leave feedback on the Amazon page. New and informative reviews really do lead to more attention and sales. I do want to request, though, that if you have not read the book, please do NOT leave a review.
Again, I'm incredibly humbled and honored by all of your support, and just want you to see what you helped create. Please, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me for any reason.
