Hi Kickstarters! Today we're introducing Noon Blinds - a beautiful and innovative way to cover your windows and decorate your home. Noon Blinds are designed to cast 'Light Shadows' around your home. As the sun moves across the sky, light patterns slowly move across the room. During the day you can watch the patterns cast themselves across the floors and walls, crossing and reflecting on the surfaces of your furniture. At night, the light from passing cars creates light shadows that dance across the ceiling. The cut patterns allow for easy air passage should you decide to keep your blinds down while keeping your windows open for a summer's breeze.
Noon Blinds will be cut and assembled right here in the USA.
These blinds are a great alternative to the regular window coverings found at your local home store. Noon Blinds are cost effective while also giving a designer treatment to your windows. Another great advantage to these blinds is that they allow for light to enter your home while still giving you a great deal of privacy.
Noon Blinds are a great gift for those about to move into a new home or apartment, for a child's bedroom, and especially for those moving away to college.
Our inspiration comes from the old ornate windows which can often be found in castles and old homes around the world.
Noon Blinds offer a unique visual element to any home or office. The addition of patterns and color casts gives a sense of life to the room. By moving a shade blind to either side of the coloured blind you can cast different intensities of color or diffuse the pattern being projected.
Patterns and Colors
Our initial patterns for the blinds will be Polka Dots, Stars and Stripes. These patterns are extremely versatile, great for modern living rooms to children's bedrooms. The blinds can be purchased in any of the 5 colors we offer; Yellow, Beige, Grey, White and Black.
Our Black blinds are a thicker 5oz offering designed to limit light transmission. We call this our 'Black Out Blind'.
Our White blinds are the same weight as our colored offerings (2.5oz) and work great as a diffusion sheet, cutting down on how much light comes through but still allowing just enough.
We have several different options here on Kickstarter.
This idea behind these blinds is that they fit and work perfectly with your existing IKEA system. No need for any extra hardware. All colours are available across all patterns. Sizing matches your existing system.
We wanted to offer our backers an option if their windows didn't happen to be 23" or 34" in width. With the Single Blinds we offer widths, in 1" increments, from 23-34". We designed the top area with a sewn loop to allow you to use an existing rod or your own mounting method. Each blind also has sewn in weighted bar at the base.
We offer 23" and 34" width Blind Packages. These are our core products, offering the full package of a patterned blind, shade blind, mounting hardware and clips.
The Non-Woven Polypropylene material is the same used for environmentally friendly bags found at your grocery store. They are fully biodegradable and are partly made from recycled materials. Also, these blinds are manufactured and assembled in the USA.
All blinds can be cut to any length you want. Simply use a straight edge and knife to cut them to your desired length.
Noon Blinds don't feature a roller or string system. The idea is simple, we supply several clips, you roll up which ever layer you want, by hand, and the clips hold it up in place.
At the base of our 23" and 34" Blind Package layers we sew in a weighted bar to ensure that the blinds hang nicely. Each layer comes with this bar which also helps to remove any folds or creases over time.
Once our 30 day campaign is over we will begin sorting the orders and sending off the information to our manufacturers. The production of our blinds should take no longer than 3 months, hopefully even quicker. Once we are happy with the quality of the blinds and accessories, we will begin shipping out your rewards. Our proposed ship date is June 2015.
The shipping is not included in the price. However, we have calculated the shipping, and in the US it is roughly $10 a parcel, in Canada it is $15, and Internationally the cost is $22. This cost will be calculated after the campaign through our Shopify account.
Risks and challenges
Our team has already done a lot of work assessing any problems which may arise in the production and fulfilment of these products. We have chosen reputable suppliers and manufacturers for our products.
The cutting of our patterns, depending on the number of backers, can be completed in a few weeks. The remaining pieces of the system are dependent on wholesale manufacturers.
Often the estimated time of arrival on products can lag, however, we have timed out the campaign in such a way that we can afford some delays and still have enough time to hit our prospective delivery timeline.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
