So here is the deal:
Project: Paradigm is a pet project of mine that I have been working on for almost two years. A table top game world by initial design, Project: Paradigm takes place in a near future world where 'reality' is the only word in the language that should always be used in quotes. With action inspired by classic movies of Asian cinema, political machinations straight from Machiavelli, and string theory 'reality' manipulation Project: Paradigm is a new game world to be released by Eschaton Media.
Eschaton Media, our media company, currently has over half a dozen gaming books and novels being released over the next year. As a newer company, having so many projects and intellectual properties available is fantastic... and expensive. You see, Eschaton Media is actually owned by the writers and game designers that have a love for game production.
Working on all of these projects cost a lot of money that we will not make back for a a while. Initial production costs such as art, layout design, printing, and advertisement racks up some serious debts. So, looking at when we could add a new project to the release table we had a few options:
1) We could put off releasing Project: Paradigm until the end of 2014/2015 to provide it the start-up funds it deserves.
2) We could sell part or all of the intellectual property to an interested 'big productions' company. This would give us the needed funds but we would have to compromise our artistic design and no longer have total ownership of our own product (screw that).
3) Or I pay for the release of Project: Paradigm out of my own pocket... with the help of you.
Come hell or high water I intend on releasing Project:Paradigm in 2013. While it may mean spending many nights in a dark room eating noodles and talking to my cats, this project will be released. The question is, how much production value can I put into it?
$2,000 was set as the lowest goal not because that is what we need to make the project work, but because those funds combined with what I can pay out of my own pocket will provide the barest bones release of the game world. The ideal stretch goal for this project is much closer to $4,500 to cover most of the art and design costs, however, Kickstarter *is* an everything or nothing deal. So every dollar past the initial $2,000 allows for the artwork, production, and design of the final product to be improved. The more I raise for this book release, the better I can make the book for you.
So thank you for donating or at least reading my pitch. Donations such as yours allows smaller production companies like ours a chance to have access to the resources that only major production companies could afford in the past.
Love et all
A table top game is a game that allows a group of friends to have a shared story telling experience. This book, Project: Paradigm, examines a world where the select few can manipulate and change reality. Heavily drawing from string theory, shared reality design, and the butterfly effect; the world of Project: Paradigm is a fast pace environment where the evolution of 'reality' is actively fought for. With the Houses of the Enlightened looking to force their own views of evolution, Echoes from defunct potential futures attempting to save their timeline, and battles of populous control breaking out between Erudite the near future's reality is defined by the few for the many.
Question: Pledge $30 or more - do you ship to international locations (namely: Canada as we're 8 hours away from most of Connecticut) and if so, what're the shipping fees?
We will ship outside of the US, however, shipments outside the US may arrive later than in country shipments. As the actual weight of the book is not yet determined we can only estimate that shipping fees for outside of the US are $10 for Mexico and Canada and $25 for most of Europe and the UK. Shipping outside of Mexico, Canada, and Europe will require individual pricing before we can ship. Please keep in mind this is only an estimation.
