Hello! We are Audrey and Shayne, welcome to our Kickstarter!
After playing music together as a group for several years we are finally recording our first full length album, The Earth is Much Like You and Me. We've selected 11 original songs out of the dozens we have written over the years. They feature our lyrics, sung in harmony, and a wide array of instruments. We will be recording this summer with a fantastic local producer, Lucas Carillo, from Cornwall, NY. Although we play most of the instruments ourselves (guitar, mandolin, cello, ukulele, banjo, you name it!) we will be inviting in studio musicians to play with us as well. Our drummer, John Westphal, and bassist, Ian O'Neill will be joining us in the studio as we record our album.
We spend all the time we have busking, playing shows ranging from farmers markets, to yoga classes, to NYC gigs. We have just graduated from high school, and are planning to defer for one year to pursue our music. We will be traveling North America to spread our music far and wide. We are excited to gain more experience as musicians, and be inspired to continue writing music.
We have been fortunate enough to have grown up in a town where the arts thrive, and are active in our schools. We have participated in the arts and music programs of our public schools, as well as the community, our whole lives, and feel that as we are leaving the district, it is our turn to give back. The arts programs will be suffering due to budget cuts, and we want to help future generations experience the same education that tremendously impacted our lives. A portion of our albums proceeds will be donated to the Warwick Arts and Music Boosters (WAMBO) and your funding our Kickstarter will allow us to do so!
All in all, it is going to cost about $6,000 to successfully record, mix, master, copyright, distribute an album, and send us on tour. We are sincerely grateful for every bit of your support and can't wait to involve you in our project. THANK YOU!
Risks and challenges
We love what we do and are completely devoted to our band, so much so that we are taking the year to spend working at it with our whole hearts. Being young, in school, and having jobs have been major set backs for us over the years, but as we move out into the world we are fully committed to making our album, tour, and future endeavors successful. Because our music is such an important part of our lives, we have tackled any obstacles head first, and will continue to do so in the years to come. There will always risks involved, but they will always be worth taking.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
