About this project
Passion and inspiration go hand in hand. They are the foundation for all pursuits of life, they are the reason life exists. Not so much in the physical realm of things, but life in the sense of creation and being. T.S. Eliot once wrote "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." and with that we pursue our dreams and our visions that no matter how grand, always start with a single idea.
To continue to release our music to the masses we need to break boundaries of the so called "local band" and begin chasing the industry that we so much seek. We are embarking on a journey to create a video for our song "Freak Like Me". While this song represents a whole new direction that our band took, it also symbolizes where we want to go. If we want to succeed in our endeavors, we must take action and prove that we are here to stay and can compete in the major leagues of the music industry. We are Ready Revolution and we are here to make a music video!
The video in itself is an endeavor, and as our director has expressed, we will be breaking the pre-conceived notions of what a music video really is. It will take heavy cues from fashion, the artistic style chiaroscuro, representing high contrast from light and dark, and taking elements from surrealism and incorporating them into this elaborate film.
The video revolves heavily around fantasy and fairy tale using inspirations from such tales as Little Miss Riding Hood, and other films such as 2006's El laberinto del fauno, AKA Pan's Labrynth. For the wardrobe of the film, we will be utilizing ideas constructed around victorian era designs. And further, to describe a portion of the actual video, we will be utilizing high-speed photography to capture certain elements of the video in extreme slow- motion.
To lead this project we have hired on a director and cinematographer, both haling from New York City and have combined experiences with music videos broadcasting nationally, featured through major music blogs such as 2DopeBoyz and OkayPlayer, worked under the EMI label, and both have degrees from the School of Visual Arts where such alumni includes Grammy and Academy Award winning composer Michael Giacchino, famed musician, actor, and music video director Jared Leto, and X-Men director Brian Singer.
In order to do this, we need help! We need to fund this project to pay for the equipment, the locations, the wardrobe, and the talent to go into this! We hope that you will enjoy our gifts to you and we want to offer up our most sincere gratitude for any help you can provide, because ultimately you our giving us the opportunity to progress. You inspire us to continue to pursue our passion and dreams.
We look forward to sharing this journey with you,
Risks and challenges
Perhaps one of the biggest challenges this project faces is the low budget. We are attempting to make a large scale video that in most cases would cost upwards of around $15,000, and we're doing it for less than half. What makes it even more difficult is obtaining the props, the wardrobe, locations, etc… Of course, solutions can always be found. The team involved in this project has a wide variety of connections throughout the city which will allow for a low budget to thrive. Other advantages are of course good old fashion ingenuity.
Every project has risks, and a large one we face is that we need to make sure this investment is worth the cost. Why do we want to make videos? To expand ourselves across various platforms. We need to make sure this video is seen and does its job. As an independent band, these duties fall entirely on us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
