Wow! The goal has been met! Thank you everyone for your generosity! Now you're helping me with framing, airfare and hotel... something I did not add into the costs. All of you are greatly appreciated!!!
Hi, I'm Kimry Jelen, and I appreciate you taking the time to look at my project. This is an amazing opportunity for me! The 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy France are from August 23-Sept 7th. Three other painters, two sculptors and I will share a gallery space, La Galerie du Cheval at the Exhibition Centre Games Village! La Galerie du Cheval literally translates to, "The Gallery of the Horse". For 16 days my exhibit space will be one of the gallery walls, 9 feet high and 16 feet wide. They expect 500,000 spectators to visit the World Equestrian Games. Yep, I'm not kidding - this IS an amazing opportunity!
When I accepted the invitation, I knew the shipping costs were going to be steep - and I was aware of some fees and taxes... but I had NO idea about all the extra import taxes, etc. Then there's the cost of producing the rewards... I about gave up, but I got so much encouragement from all my friends and peers, I just knew I had to go ahead and do a Kickstarter campaign. Being invited to show my work at these games is a tremendous honor, but without help, it's impossible for me to go. Please take a look at my offerings below and to the right. Hopefully you will find some shopping ideas for the holidays. My calendars, prints and cards make great gifts! I'd appreciate you passing this link on to your friends and family and encourage them to do the same. You never know who'll be interested. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and the top and middle too!
Scroll way down, there's lots of information below!
Here is a breakdown of the costs for this adventure:
I am applying for a grant from the Oregon Arts Commission specifically for artists traveling abroad to show their art work to cover airfare.

The biggest challenge will be getting everyone's addresses and choices right away so I can get gifts out the door!
The calendar is already in production and will be done before this Kickstarter campaign is over, so we are avoiding any delays there... I can't imagine this would happen, but if we oversell the calendar, I would do a second run. If that were to happen, we would ship in order of date pledged. We still have time to get a second run done by the first of the year.
The print and cards I offer are produced locally. The printer is expecting my order as soon as this project is funded (fingers crossed). If demand becomes too high for one printer - I have a backup vendor ready to go.
I could go on and on about how risky everything is... but really, we have things pretty well thought out. All we have to do is get this project funded so you can get your goodies and I can get to painting!
When this Kickstarter project is funded, you will receive a questionnaire asking which image number you wanted and your shipping information as well.
