This project's funding goal was not reached on September 15, 2014.
About this project
The Idea : ImaginMe is an interactive storytelling engine that allows kids to do more than just read, they literally become the lead character of every story. Every child can make their own 3D character, choose costumes, make decisions and create their very own happily ever afters.
Our Kickstarter goal : If we are fully funded, we will deliver a first-edition ImaginMe 3D character application & the launch story “HE-RO HER-O” approximately 6-9 months after the funding date. If we are overfunded, we will develop more interactive features within the story as well as multi-language and voice narration options. We will also begin development of new stories. Our goal is to release a new story every 2 months or 6 stories per year. If we can manage more, we will go for it!
The Technology : The 3D character engine is an intuitive, easy-to-use program with an extensive library of faces, features and accessories that allows you to create an animated character of your child in minutes. Your child's avatar then becomes the lead character of every story in the ImaginMe series. The 3D character is yours forever and can be updated as your child grows. The character design can be used for printing on 2D and even 3D objects.
Our Stories : Stories are at the core of the ImaginMe series. Our stories focus on positive messages such as creativity, confidence, curiosity, empowerment, equality, overcoming phobias, and education. The stories are tailored to both boys & girls across various age groups. Whether it's potty-training, fantasy, or engineering, there are stories for every interest. We are teaming up with talented writers the world over to craft our stories.
Interactive features : The interactive nature of ImaginMe stories allows kids to engage in each adventure. The are not just spectators but active participants. Each story contains fully animated scenes that empower and excite children. This makes it easier for them to absorb the lessons and magic in reading.
The applications : ImaginMe allows kids to identify themselves as the lead character of each story. This role-playing platform ignites children’s imagination as they see themselves in new and different roles. ImaginMe also enables kids to overcome challenges as simple as potty-training or more complex ones like phobias or bullying. As a learning tool, it can be applied for development and even as therapy for children with disabilities.
ImaginMe is designed to allow children to recognize themselves as the hero of every story. With this goal in mind, the character application will be capable of creating a child's resemblance for all global regions. We will localise language text and voice narration for every major language that our funding allows. We are currently developing stories that we believe have universal messages and appeal. But our long-term vision is to work with writers around the world to create stories that will resonate within specific regions and cultures.
Our ambition : There are so many stories to tell. And with ImaginMe, the story is always about your child. This is our ambition. We will create an eco-system of stories and tools that will allow children to become a part of their favorite stories. We envision partnering with existing youth brands to help tell their stories in a new and meaningful way. Imagine if your child could actually play with Curious George or take a walk down Sesame Street. Yup, we like to dream big.

Risks and challenges
I'm certain that we will face challenges of every kind. But the greatest challenge will be the one we've made to ourselves as we strive to create something that is truly world class, both in terms of technology & content.
As a professional, I've produced marketing campaigns across all medias for multinational brands around the world. I know how to take a project from concept to reality. I've also developed a wonderful network of friends, writers, artists and professionals in music & film production, animation and programming. With so many talented individuals supporting us on this project, there's virtually no chance that we will not create something ground-breaking.
On a final note, this project is a labour of love inspired by my beautiful daughter Zoe. I've poured my heart into it and I hope that it will enrich the lives of all who use it. Thank you for your time and for your help in bringing ImaginMe to life.
Our pricing structure is still under development. But we have decided that this will be a paid-for-app. We don't believe in the "freemium" business model. The initial 3D character app + launch story will be priced competitively, between $2.99 and $4.99. Each additional story will be approximately $1.99 per download. However, we also plan to offer a subscription model. For a very reasonable annual fee, subscribers will receive the app and all stories during the year, as well as premium extras only available to subscribers.
Absolutely. We are developing a 3D model library that can re-create almost any physical resemblance. And this library will constantly be updated. But there is one important point we'd like to make. The ImaginMe 3D character software will create an animated version of your chlid. Much like Disney / Pixar characters, certain features will have exaggerated proportions. Eyes for instance are always larger in a cartoon character than they are in real life. This just makes the character more adorable. Our illustration team is developing the character library in one style giving ImaginMe characters a signature look. Perhaps the most important factor is that parents & children will personally create their characters. This gives the child a sense of self-identification with the character. They know it's their character, because they created it.
Nope. This app will be equally for girls and boys of different ages. The idea was inspired by my daughter and the launch story focuses on female empowerment. But we have many stories to tell that will speak to boys as well. Also, there are many issues that affect children equally such as bullying, child phobias, confidence, and creativity. Lastly, I have a 2-month old baby boy and I will definitely work to create a series of stories that he will also love in the coming years. :)
This is something we will develop as we go along. Initially, we plan to develop stories for children between 3-7 years old. If we find that this kind of role-playing platform works for older children, we'd be very happy to develop stories that work for older age groups.
ImaginMe does believe that time spent on digital devices, for children, should be regulated. We also believe in the power of technology to help children in ways that was never possible before. The themes in our stories will always reflect the issues that children are experiencing in the real world. As such, our ambition is to create a learning & development tool that will not only empower kids, but also encourage them to take our lessons and apply them in their daily lives. We've also discussed applying automatic time limits to the ImaginMe application. We will give parents the option to apply these kinds of parental controls.
The initial launch will be for the IOS platform. If we are overfunded, we can begin development for Android.
Yes. The 3D character app will accommodate ages 3-10 years old. We felt that younger than 3 is a bit too young for the app. You'll be able to create multiple avatar files and store them in your personal library.
We are developing stories for various ages & interests. Some for reading, learning and positive lessons. Others will be more game-like. And most definitely for boys AND girls. How fast we will be able to roll them out will depend on our funding.
