Hello we are the Hanuman Project and we sing Kirtan.
This is a very special type of Bhakti Yoga, that we have fallen in love with over the past years.
For the past year we have been working extra hard on recording our very first studio album - its going to be called 'Thank You For Choosing This Reality' and we are very excited about it.
As with any project of this magnitude there has been lots of learn, many steps and lots of hurdles to navigate along the way. After touring for the past 6 months we saved up some funds and also received a few generous donations to help us with this project. We are now at the point where much of the work has been done, the album is 'tracked' i.e. all the music is recorded and now we need to have the songs mixed and mastered so they can be released. This means they will be prepared so everyone can listen to them on their stereos, in their cars and on their headphones. This is a essential and very specialist job that needs to be done by professionals.
Ideally we'd also like to create some beautiful artwork for the album cover too, to compliment all the songs and the efforts we put into recording them as best we can.
We have set a fairly modest goal to help us achieve this, though ideally we'd love to raise around double the amount. So our stretch goal would be to afford to make the album artwork also.
We have put together a few ways you can support us, from pre purchasing the album, to also getting some bonus tracks, to maybe even having a private event for your family and friends with us. As ever we are incredibly grateful for all the support we have received as part of this process and any help you can offer is very gratefully received. Sharing on social media is also a really great way to help out once you've shared.
Thanks for taking the time to read all this and we look forward to sharing the completed album with you very soon!
p.s. here is the post I made to launch the campaign on facebook....
Tomorrow (or today, depending on where you are reading this) is my birthday… seems like a good time to reflect on a few things… Thank you all so much for being with my on this journey of devotion, kirtan and transformation over the past 4 and 3/4 years. I’m writing this in the afterglow of a powerful few days following the completion of the final studio sessions for the Hanuman Projects debut studio album ‘Thank You For Choosing This Reality’ ….and about 6 months of Kirtans, travel, cacao, ceremonies, flights, road trips, sleeping on floors, sleeping in beds (yay!), soaking in hot springs, dancing in fields, sitting in traffic, spending too much time on my laptop, worrying about whether i’m doing it all right, smiling when everything seems to be coming together and everything in-between!!! So I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been a part of this journey so far, and I’m really excited about the next steps… You know who you all are and i love you all very much. Ever since I was about 14 or 15, if i was really truthful and honest with myself Ive known that the thing I’m most passionate about is music and joyfully sharing with others. And there was also a big part of me that told myself that i should concentrate on getting a sensible career to pay the bills and do all that stuff, and another part of me that convinced myself that I wasn’t really good enough to sing with people and make music, and kind of used this as an excuse to not put myself out there. Worrying about getting it wrong, being judged, being criticised and all that stuff…and this is one of the reasons why I’m so incredibly grateful for Kirtan, as by some miracle I was engaged in the service of helping to co-create this musical practice pretty much as soon as I found it, and this was the magic key that finally allowed me to fully get out of my own way and just start doing the things that had true meaning and genuine excitement for me. From my travels and conversations in the past years I know that I am not alone in this journey and that many others are going through this journey of opening up to their creativity and the magic that lives in all of us, an perhaps kirtan or the Hanuman Project has been a part of your journey too? (if so pls leave a comment on this thread???). The next step in my journey has been getting this album together, its been a big step in so many ways… I’ve been questioning ‘can i sing well enough?’, ‘are the songs something that people will actually want to listen to?’, ‘am i making lots of mistakes?’ ‘is this all just a big joke?’ etc etc etc,…. and I know it’s going to be perfect in it’s imperfections, and I know that unless I start somewhere I’m never going to get anywhere, so I’m committed to getting it finished as best I can and honouring all the faith and support that my friends have shown in this project. I hope that as with everything else that the Hanuman Project has been involved in, that this will be an inspiration to me and others to create, to follow what has meaning and will inspire some courage to create and make art….. So…. my request and invitation at this point is for some support in getting over the finish line. We have successful funded two rounds of studio recording and made a music video (in India!!! yay!!! and there is a sneak preview in the Kickstarter page if you wanna have a look!). We now need to get everything professionally mixed and mastered so its ready to be listened to on stereos and headphones. The band is pretty tired at this point so more touring is not an option, and I’m really keen to keep the momentum and finish in a good way. So with it being my birthday and all, if you are feeling abundant please considering supporting the kickstarter I just set up to help us with this final stage, and hopefully we’ll have the album for you by the end of year!!! And if you actually read to the end of this big love and thanks so much!!! Haribol xxx
Risks and challenges
We are confident of getting this project (completed album) out to all the supporters by the end of 2018, or early 2019.
The main thing we learned from our previous endeavours in recording is to keep up with momentum. After completing the studio sessions and 6 months on the road we are all very tired and also very committed to seeing this thing through. This kickstarter campaign is our response to this, and will help us cross the finish line in a good way!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
