“You should sell that”. Anyone who is passionate about food and loves to create in the kitchen
has heard this before. A signature dish,
that amazing entrée, dessert or edible piece of heaven that you love to create
and everyone loves to eat. My grandmother’s chicken and dumplings, my mother’s
pot roast, my sister’s potato salad and my brother’s strawberry-rhubarb pie,
all signature dishes. Those wonderful dishes that make life good,
the food that you can’t wait to taste, the meals that evoke happy memories; the yum that makes you smile. This is Yummy Hugs.
Passion for food, passion for creating wonderful meals, and
the desire to share that passion with others; is the foundation of Yummy Hugs.
Located in Los Angeles, California, Yummy Hugs is dedicated to highlighting amazing culinary artists from all walks of life and giving them the opportunity to showcase their signature dishes to hungry Angelinos from a mobile food venue. Our community of artists rotate on a daily
basis. Menus are posted on FB, Twitter, Instagram, and the website at the beginning on
the week and on a daily basis for the next day’s options. As we add artists to our community, customers can view the bios
of our culinary contributors through social media, the website and by visiting the truck.
In addition to our
one-time and reoccurring contributors you will always find the Yummy Hugs
signature desserts on the truck: My varietal, signature,
individual cheese-cakes, small batch exotic ice-cream cookie sandwiches,
and additional exquisite small bites.
In the spirit of community, Yummy Hugs
is committed to offering meals to the homeless of Los
Angeles in our tireless pursuit to provide food for every body
Hunger, it’s pervasive and all encompassing. When you’re hungry it doesn’t matter how much
money you have, what clothes you’re wearing or where you came from, nothing
matters but filling that emptiness.Hunger is physical, emotional and intellectual, it makes the difference
in how well your body and mind function and above all, it is preventable. Yet
millions of adults, children and families go to sleep every night with empty
stomachs. At Yummy Hugs, I believe that it isn’t enough to serve those that are
financially able, but to fill as many hungry tummies as I can on a daily basis.
On the website you will find a daily tally of meals served to those less
financially able with the ultimate goal of one meal sold/one meal given. At the end of
each service day, any remaining meal portions will be served, free of charge,
to those individuals who call the streets their home and have limited access to
nutritional meals. In addition, there will be a soup de jour created daily to support
the goal to feed every body and soul.
Your pledge will allow us to purchase a truck, rent space at a commissary and offset additional start-up costs and by contributing to this project, you also become a member of our community. Each contributor will have their name written on the truck as a permanent dedication and thank-you for their support.
Risks and challenges
As with any start up business, clientele must be established and built. We are active on social media and will continue to utilize social media to provide prospective customers with readily available, up to date information about our culinary artists, signature dishes and service locations. Each pledge will support purchasing the food truck, various permits and licenses and any additional start-up costs that may arise.
