After launching its first community-engagement project on National Hammock Day in 2014, the Hammock Initiative responded to rave reviews and demands for more sway by establishing collegiate branches (university-sponsored hammock clubs) across the nation and then into remote corners of the world through self-proclaimed "Hammbassadors".
This chilled-out movement has truly grown organically; and that's because it's hard to find someone who doesn't enjoy relaxing in a hammock.
Now, we're poised to host the largest hammock gathering in world history right where the movement began; back in Fargo's Island Park.
We aren't asking for much in the way of funds because, it turns out, the best things in life are actually free -- hammock-induced relaxation is one of those things! We just need enough money to feed some of our hammbassadors as they go about setting up hammocks for the event in May.
Risks and challenges
If, for some reason, more than the requested $50.73 is contributed to this campaign, then we'd invest the additional funds into the formation of hammocking outposts around the world (right now, we have Official Hammbassadors in Laos, Australia, Nicaragua, and Indonesia), create fashionable swa(y)g through a product line called HiFashion, and establish a "relaxation fund" from which future community hammock engagement events could be supported.
We're ready to facilitate more opportunities for global sway and relaxation.
