"Our Man", a favorite from the 2010 New Orleans Fringe Festival, travels to the Berkshire Fringe for 5 performances from Aug. 3-7.
For Goat in the Road Productions' (GRP) first-ever independent tour, we'll pack our 5x5 plexi-glass box and tennis racket and head North! Leaving on Saturday, July 30, we will drive to the Berkshire Fringe for 5 performances of GRP's original production Our Man from Wednesday, August 3 through Sunday, August 7 (see dates/times below). Along the way, we will say hello to our friends at the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble in Bloombsurg, PA, and stop by Underground Arts at the Wolf Building in Philadelphia, PA.
For the past two years we’ve worked and lived in New Orleans, a city with an exciting and joyful theater community. Our work has benefited from friends and artists who have supported our mission to make funny, intellectually stimulating, original performance work. We’re incredibly excited to take this joy and passion with us beyond the borders of New Orleans, and share some of our city’s energy with communities around the United States.
Our Man, a “brilliant and hilarious hourlong comedy” (Will Coviello, The Gambit), features two men in a small glass box tasked with narrating the life and accomplishments of one of the nations most controversial leaders, “The Gipper” (Ronald Reagan). Forced to perform the same radio play over and over again for an invisible audience, the lines of fact and fiction blur as the men begin to slowly re-write the course of history in an effort to entertain each other and understand the context of their unusual situation.
We first presented Our Man during the 2010 New Orleans Fringe Festival. Hailed as “a celebration of theatre and a civics lesson in miniature” (Jim Fitzmorris, NOLA Defender), it was chosen by the Festival to be featured in Interstate Fringe, a collaboration between the New Orleans’ and Houston Fringe Festivals in March 2011.
In addition to helping us fund our transportation (pick-up truck rental and gas), your generous donation to our kickstarter campaign will help us pay for sustenance during our journey. All accommodations are being covered by the Berkshire Fringe Festival, and the kindness of our friends.
Thanks for your support!
