Appear more competent the next time you go fishing! With FishyHands you can make any size fish look like a great catch. Your chance to boast will never again need to depend on size!
You are our hero. Help us reach our goal of 200.000 DKK. (ca. 30.000 $) so we can set up the first production. And we will make sure to deliver your reward right to your doorstep.
By the magic of forced perspective FishyHands is able to "enlarge" your catch when taking a picture.
FishyHands consists of two rods each attached to a gripping claw. The claws take on the shape of naturalistic fingertips in scale 1:2. The rods add a distance between you and the artificial hands, causing the scaled down hands to look naturally proportioned. The fish, however, will appear much larger in front of the camera due to the changed perspective.
The design of FishyHands is the result of a real live human hand being 3D-scanned at the MOEF facilities. This 3D-scan has laid the foundation for the 3D-modelling and the final design of the FishyHands.
FishyHands will be available in two skin colors: "Light" and "Dark".
You will be able to choose your desired color when we send out or surveys after the FishyHands project is funded. We will notify you.
You will only be able to choose one color per pledge. For instance, if you chose the 4-pack, all your sets of FishyHands will be in the same color.
The idea behind FishyHands was conceived during a MOEF company Christmas party - as all great ideas usually are. We turned the idea into an Aprils Fool's Day prank and posted it on our Facebook page. Remember our original ad?
The Aprils Fool's Day prank went viral in a mixed chaos of people teasing their friends with using what appeared to be FishyHands on their fishing trip photos. And it wouldn't stop. It has reached the point now, where we feel obligated to deliver on our (prank) promise.
We are deeply concerned about fish safety - a much-neglected topic. Too many people give little thought about how to handle fish properly to avoid injuries. That is why we have included a mini-guide in proper fish handling for catch-and-release fishing with FishyHands (also available at www.fishyhands.com).
It is our hope that FishyHands will be a contribution to the awareness of better fishing ethics. Hence FishyHands is never to be used on live animals.
If you spot someone using what appears to be FishyHands in the wild - even though they are not yet produced - feel free to tag and use the hashtag #fishyhands.
We will bring updates on our process, the FishyHands production, and other useful information at various social media platforms. So follow us and keep in touch!
With help from our production partner we will produce the FishyHands as fast at possible. We will do our very best to ship FishyHands March 2016.
When an idea like FishyHands pops up during a Christmas party at MOEF, it is because we are a company of passionate product developers with a great variety of competencies and experiences. We help big businesses find solutions to their problems, primarily within medico and technology.
One of our previous products is the underwater camera WaterWolf. Visit www.waterwolfhd.com for more information.
Visit our website www.moef.dk for further details and cases (be aware - it's in Danish!).
FishyHands are the product of a design process involving hand modeling, 3D scanning, 3D modeling, and a great deal of perspective and special effects knowledge.
The following pictures were taking during the making of the initial prototype used in our Aprils Fool's Day prank and our latest prototype shown in this campaign.
Risks and challenges
1) Experience with product design and development
MOEF A/S have a wast experience from development and production of products. We work according to our well-proven development process called INVENT - DESIGN - CREATE, a process where every element from initial idea to final product is taken into account. Creating products and getting them to market is what we do for a living.
Visit our website for previous cases and projects - www.moef.dk (text is in Danish).
2) Production challenges
Creating a product to be mass produced is always a task associated with various risks and challenges.
Our first step in the production plan for FishyHands has been to set a realistic funding goal. This goal is set at the amount we need to hit, not just one that is easy to hit. Thus when we hit our founding goal, we will have raised the funds necessary to place a minimum order with our manufacturing partner.
In order to minimize production delay we have already done a great deal to ensure a smooth as possible production before going live on Kickstarter. We have created a 1:1 prototype shown working in our Kickstarter video and campaign. All the parts shown are the actual parts to be used in the final version of FishyHands. Hence we know that our product works and that the manufacturing of the parts is plausible.
All in all we are doing everything in our power to bring you FishyHands as quickly as possible. But there could still be delays. Problems with manufacturing is always a risks, furthermore shipping can turn out to be a hassle. But again, we will work around the clock to ensure as fast as possible production and delivery.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
