A short film about an evanescent friendship between a young boy and the corpse he discovers.
Trunko is a short film about a young boy who finds a corpse washed up on the beach and spends a fun-filled day playing beach games with it. Trouble occurs when the boy's usual school bullies take the corpse away, and the boy must gain the courage to stand up for himself. This film is about the fleeting friendships we make every day, and how influential they can really be. The film is upbeat, quirky, and cartoon-like.
The short will be shot on 16mm film, and entered into UCSB's "Reel Loud" film festival. It will be accompanied by an original score, performed live in the theater. We plan on entering Trunko into multiple other festivals as well!
Our goal is $2,300 and will go toward every aspect of the film, including camera/equipment rental, film stock, catering, costuming and makeup, and editing. Since we're shooting on 16mm, many aspects will cost significantly more than aspects of digital filmmaking (particularly film stock and camera rental costs), but the end product will be well worth the extra expenses!
Thank you SO MUCH for helping to make this film the very best it can be. I can't wait to show you the final result!
All the best,
