Rogue Squad - The Board Game (Canceled)
Cooperative SF combat board game with 66 miniatures. Battle your way through hordes of hostile aliens to fulfill your mission!
Rogue Squad is a cooperative science fiction board game that combines fast-paced combat action with exciting strategic challenges.
In this compelling futuristic adventure, 1 to 4 players step into the boots of a misfit band of mercenaries who must battle their way through ever-increasing swarms of monstrous aliens.
Rogue Squad is an exciting turn-based game with easy-to-learn rules. Depending on the mission’s level of difficulty, one game lasts from 1 to 3 hours. A fully developed universe, intriguing characters, and story-based missions allow you to focus as much (or as little) on roleplaying as you like.
- fast-paced combat action
- fully cooperative
- 12 single missions, 2 boss arenas or campaign mode
- easy-to-learn rules
- one-of-a-kind alien spawning mechanism
- unique combat system using custom dice
- no game master necessary – aliens are controlled by the game itself
- versatile elements can be combined in many ways (troopers, sidekicks, co-op robots, aliens, boss, non-player characters)
- mission-specific rules and special features make every gaming session fresh and fun
- troopers’ main weapons and skills can be upgraded
- large selection of weapons (50+) and combat equipment
- search, event, alien and alien overlord decks
- maverick (= skirmish) and expert modes offer truly grueling combat for especially ferocious fighters
- add-ons change up gameplay even more
- free mobile app for even more innovative gameplay options
Each player controls 1 to 4 mercenary troopers and/or sidekicks. Steer the squad’s combat robot, share equipment, manufacture weapons and ammunition from whatever materials you can scrounge, and – above all – cooperate to stay alive and carry out your mission. Only a combat unit that works together can hope to stand against the aliens’ overwhelming numbers. One instant, you may be the predator… but the next, you will become the prey.
Banes and Blights
Rogue Squad comes with 63 pre-assembled, highly detailed miniatures.
Map Tiles and Game Objects
Rogue Squad is set in a large number of diverse settings, from abandoned spaceships to embattled mining outposts to planetbound farming colonies – and more. The game’s double-sided board tiles and the printed game box inner part are versatile enough to portray them all.
Main and secondary weapons, special skills and boosts: Keep track of your armament and abilities with your trooper interface. As the window into your intergalactic mercenary’s world, this character dashboard keeps you organized and tells you everything you need to know at a single glance.
In games with 1 to 3 players, the multifunctional combat robot MCR-AL77 is a helpful addition to the squad. With the interface and component cards, he can produce combat equipment items, manufacture upgrades for its system and even repair himself.
The Custom Dice
Rogue Squad’s unique combat system lets you battle your fearsome alien opponents with custom dice.
Want to know what your trusty neural disruptor looks like? The game’s weapon, item and event cards are not only a vital part of gameplay, but also give you a closer look at some facets of the Rogue Squad universe.
The Campaign System
Each Rogue Squad game scenario is a mission you and your squad must complete. There’s always a new setting to explore, and every mission comes with unique challenges – and even mission-specific rules. Rogue Squad’s campaign system ties every game scenario into an overarching story plot.
The Mobile App: Additional Gameplay
Rogue Squad‘s free mobile app (Android and iOS) adds a strong element of surprise and suspense to the game. The app-based Explorer Mode has you and your comrades start out on a single board tile, with all others concealed. As you explore new areas, cautiously open doors and edge around corners, the board is revealed bit by bit – the app lets you know which tile to add as you search for the way out. The app also places the aliens, and makes every game unique and unpredictable. (3 missions are included in the Core Box)

Free Rogue Squad Playtest on Tabletop Simulator (TTS)
There’s only one way to be completely sure how much you’ll enjoy a game: playing it. That’s why we’ve created a free virtual preview of Rogue Squad for Tabletop Simulator (TTS), the popular board game simulation on Steam. If you’d like to form an impression of Rogue Squad’s mechanics and the flow and feel of gameplay, our TTS playtest might be just the thing!
A preliminary version of Rogue Squad’s rules is available for download, along with the mission briefing for our TTS test mission. Please be aware that this is an early advance version of the rules. Text, layout and graphics are not final and will be altered before printing, and the rules themselves may still be tweaked. Some features of the game – such as sidekicks – have not yet been completely balanced, and are thus not yet included.
Rules in German, French and Spanish
Rogue Squad’s rule book and campaign book will be available in German, French and Spanish in the form of printable PDF versions. We may create additional language versions in the future, if there is sufficient interest. The translated PDFs will feature the same full-color layout and graphics as the English version. All backers will receive the English game, and will be able to download the translated manuals as PDFs. Although we would like to make printed versions of the game available in different languages, we cannot guarantee this will be possible.

Risks and challenges
All of the miniatures in the base game and most of the ones in the stretch goals are sculpted, the artwork is complete, and the game mechanics are worked out to the point where only details remain to be finalized. At this point, we have a solid grasp on the process of developing, manufacturing and delivering a complex, high-quality board game.
Production and delivery always carry some risks that are beyond our control, and could conceivably cause delays. To minimize these risks, we’ve chosen to work with Ludo Fact, one of the world’s leading game manufacturers. Ludo Fact is well-known for producing miniatures and games that meet the highest standards. With one of the biggest names and most well-earned reputations in the business standing behind Rogue Squad’s production, the high quality of our game is assured. And: Ludo Fact will also handle logistics and shipping, which it is equally well-versed in.
We’ve set the September 2018 delivery deadline because we are confident we can keep it. We expect to have all game content ready by January, and begin manufacturing in February.
Please be aware that we will perform extensive game balancing after stretch goals have been unlocked. Art, rules and other details may change during this process.
After the Kickstarter campaign, we’ll continue to send regular updates to keep you informed. You’ll always know what’s happening and what the latest developments are. We’ve worked hard to minimize the chance of delays or other issues, but in the unlikely event that an unforeseen issue arises, we will communicate it promptly and openly, along with the steps we are taking to address it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
