About
Hi, thanks for visiting this page. I'm Ian Dunican and I am a sleep and performance specialist. I am weeks away from finishing my PhD in sleep and performance in elite athletes. However, I have a 20 year career history that includes military operations, mining and elite athletes. A combination of scientific research and operational leadership to support organisations in reducing risk, lowering cost whilst optimising productivity & performance.
Recently in conjunction with advancing my research interests, I have continued working within the mining sector (coal, iron ore and gold) facilitating several significant improvement projects for major mining companies. I work with professional athletes, working with Olympic and elite athletes with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and professional teams such as Western Force, Greater Western Sydney and the Perth Lynx.
I have been a regular speaker/chair at universities and international conferences in mining, oil and gas and physiology that include the International Council of Minerals and Metals (ICMM), Australian Journal of Mining, Sleep Down Under, Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) and Applied Physiology. I regularly contribute to articles with the Australian, the Australian Financial Review and many other print media. He has also been featured on the health report on ABC radio, ABC radio national and numerous podcasts. Ian has appeared on ABC television, Channel 7, Channel 10 and Channel 9 in Australia. I have co-authored a number of technical reports and guidelines for industry organisations, authored a number of scientific articles and is a regular reviewer for scientific peer reviewed journals.
NOW !!!! I want to share all my experience and explore the wonderful world of sleep and how we can improve our lives with Sleep4Performance Radio, a free podcast where I interview and discuss this subject with people from all walks of life, including elite athletes, olympians, shift workers, leaders and many more.
My goal is to buy some sound equipment to improve the audio of the podcast. I do not wish to make money or derive an income, my time, energy and editing is all done for my love of the podcast.
I would appreciate any support.
