Last night's show at Kings Barcade was a smash hit!!!  We want to play The Game(ing) Show with you all over the Triangle.  Please help us do that with your support.  If you choose the 10$ reward now, we will put you on the list to get in free to any future Game(ing) Show of your choice!

Inspired by the rich gaming industry here in the Triangle us Urban Gardeners decided to explore the art and psychology of game play. A group of like minded people came together: fine artists, film makers, game designers, writers, and actors.

Over the course of 2 months we designed a framework for performance that lets the audience create and control the play through various game mechanics.

Now we want to bring together an audience to play our game!

Who are we? Urban Garden's mission is to bring together artists from different disciplines to create unique performance based events that draw diverse local audiences. Visit our site. www.urbangardenpa.org

We have some incredible people involved with The Game(ing) show: Tim Randall(game designer), Richard Butner(actor and writer), Jason Bailey(actor), John Kantz(poster art), Alice Turner(actor), Mary Forrester(actor), PJ Maske(director) Drew Martin(filmmaker), Oliva Griego (actor/director), Lisa Wood(artist), Mollie Earls(artist), Manning Pruden(artist), Evan Mitchell(movement specialist), Amber Wood(writer), Jon Haas(video editor), Kieran Moreira(filmmaker), Paul Kilpatrick(actor/producer), Jeff Buckner(actor).

We need funding for two primary areas; game piece materials and artist commission. In order for this event to be as interactive and visually interesting as possible we need to buy things, build things, paint things, and sculpt things. In the Urban Garden we prioritize collaborations with professional artists and craftspeople, and seek to encourage professional making in our community, hence the "artist commission" part of our budget. In contemporary American culture gaming is a significant pastime for millions and has developed into massive global industry. Some of us get it and some of us don't. Please support this UGPA exploration of games and their many facets with your monies or simply by coming over to play our game at King's Barcade on November 13th!

Special thanks to VAE for being awesome!

Risks and challenges

We are unaware of another group doing anything quite likes this before, so we are in uncharted territory. We have had to build the performance framework from scratch. The live-ness of performance always carries with it inherent risk. And throughout the process we have been challenged especially by our own goals; to build a framework for performance that is audience controlled without being "choose your own adventure," or pure improv. We think we've hit on something. Come over and let us know what you think.
