Chemical Wedding Ebook Coming Soon
Dear Thirteen Hundred and Seventeen Kickstarter Backers,
Thank you for backing this project! What fun it was — I sometimes miss it and sometimes am very glad it is done! The ebook is indeed coming soon, but first: an update.
The book has been sent to the printer and despite many meetings with my print rep there are — as expected — bumps in the road:
— The paper we are using for this book is a special order that could not be ordered until we confirmed the final print number, so it could not be ordered until the end of the Kickstarter. Without the paper, the signing page (and Wedding Invitation for the Third Day edition) could not be printed or sent out to John, Theo, and Jacob. I just signed off on the proofs of the signing page so they should be going out to be signed by each of them in turn now.
— The original hardcover cloth for the case binding, Sierra Oatmeal, was deemed too textured for the fine detail of the die cut stamps and has been replaced with a similar (ok, slightly more expensive, yay?!) Canvas Linen Cloth. (Which also meant changing the signing page as it includes descriptive details about the book including how the book is bound.)
— What else. The 2-color proofs arrived in black and gray, not black and red. Imagine my quaking and dithering. I am promised it will all be ok in the end. — I am waiting on a ribbon package to choose the ribbons: I did not know there were so many choices!
John is coming to the office in the next week or two to sign all the reward copies of his novels and so on. He'll also be at Readercon in Quincy in July.
Over to the good news: The ebook is ready to go in epub, mobi, and pdf formats. I will be posting download links in the next update. The links are live for 14 days. You will also be able to re-access the downloads at any point by registering (https://weightlessbooks.com/register) on our indie ebooksite Weightless Books and going to the Library: https://weightlessbooks.com/my-library/
That’s if for today. Office copies of our next book, Jeff Ford’s A Natural History of Hell, just arrived and I’ve got to send our preorders and review copies.
