A heart-wrenching loss reunites four cousins to share one crazy night forcing walls to come down... over a little Pizza and Whine.
On the eve of their Grandmother's wake, the four young women have a sleepover necessitated at their Grandfather's request to sing at the funeral.
They share life-changing secrets and the struggles that challenge their efforts to become autonomous and kind women while challenging the virtues and traditions that are the foundation to their upbringing.
RAFFAELA CAPP (Writer and Actor): I'm all about: "taking the power back and making my own work on my own terms!" I wanted to create a web series that would act as an artistic vehicle for myself as an actor/writer as well as for my sister, Natasha and cousins Veronica and Emily Rose. At our annual Montauk family vacation, I led my sister and cousins, over some Montauk Village Pizza and Montauk Liquors and Wines fare, with the idea to create characters and storylines loosely based on our own experiences. After my grandma's passing, I returned to perform in an LA stage production of Doubt but to my disappointment, the production was canceled. And.....see director below......
MARIA CAPP (Director): My daughter Raffaela, niece Veronica and I began the journey of creating Pizza and Whine after the recent loss of my mother and their grandmother, Millie. Over Italian spaghetti and meatballs with my dad, Veronica, and Raffaela, (a lot of Cappricielli power meetings happen over food), the play was born. The execution of this endeavor is NOT without the fiscal and emotional support of my dad, Tom D'Agostino, the heart and soul of my mom, and the generosity and love of my sisters JoAnna and Carmela and our family and friends.

There are so many talented professionals working on this project and we would love to pay for their art and amazing work; we simply cannot do that without your support. Our budget includes:
- Press and Advertising
- Costs to rent The Hudson Guild Theater with the beautiful marque, valet parking on theatre row as part of the The Hollywood Fringe Festival.
- Pay our talent for their time in making this the best show possible.
- Pay our crew including stage manager, lighting and sound tech, printing playbills/programs, props, and projector.
- Cost of our workshop production, a New York Theater Festival run in order to get our play ready to showcase at the Hollywood Fringe.
This is it! Being a part of this emotional story that touches on so many important subjects in the lives of these young women has been amazing.
Risks and challenges
When we first presented this at the NY Festival's Winterfest, we managed to rehearse between two coasts - using virtual technology and actors traveling.
We were successful in meeting our goals of sharing this story with east coast family and friends, filling 276 seats over the course of the three show run, improving the show as well as gaining positive reviews.
"What impresses the most was how real these performances were. It’s a testament to the connection they have with each other on stage, and I have to assume with each other off stage."
- Roger Gonzalez, Local Theatre NY
There are many roles being filled because of their love to the project, the meaning and the people, all without fiscal compensation.
