About this project
I would like to take the book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and convert it into an e-book blending into it Spanish words. For example; house will be casa, dog will be perro and so forth.
This will be an easy approach for beginner learners to quickly and effortlessly pick up some Spanish vocabulary. In addition, young readers will get the opportunity to read one of the great classics of children’s literarture.
My ultimate goal is to do the same with up to nine other children classics such as “Treasure Island”, “Little Women”, “Captains Courages”, “Anne of Green Gables”, “Alice in Wonderland”, Sherlock Holmes stories and others.
Dorothy lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies, with tio (Uncle) Henry, who was a farmer, and tia (Aunt) Em, who was the farmer's esposa (wife). Their casa (house) was small, for the lumber to build it had to be carried by wagon muy (many) miles. There were quatro (four) walls, a floor and a roof, which made una (one) room; and this room contained a rusty looking cookstove, a cupboard for another corner.
The Spanish words will be learned by repetition. I will initaily put the English word in paranthesis next to the Spanish word and then whenever the Spanish word appears later in the text it will be hyperlinked to the English word. At the end of each chapter a list of any new Spanish words with the English equivalent will be provided.
I want to keep the price down so that as many kids as possible can get a copy. My for sale price will be no more than $3.00.
Money I get from Kickstarter will go to a laptop, software and recompense for my time (and help from my kids).
