What is the DMB Game Tile System?
The DMB Game Tile System is a Modular system that allows you to build anything from single encounters to sprawling tabletop scenes. The system is designed to be used for any game you want to play from Dungeons & Dragons to Frostgrave, Warhammer and beyond.
The Tiles are Fully Modular, with the walls and floor separate from each other so you can create any layout you want to. They are available hand painted, finished, and felted by our studio painters or if you prefer they are available unpainted as well.
All of our Tiles are 1/2 of an inch thick, making them strong, durable and compatible with other major tile systems already out there.
Each individual square is 1 inch x 1 inch making a standard 2x2 tile 2 inches square and a crossroads 6 inches x 6inches. T
he walls are 1.5 inches tall, and one row of bricks is the same thickness as the floor tile, which gives stability and uniformity across the range.
Here is an example of the type of layouts you can create with one of our Core Sets.
This layout can be made from a Core Set and is available as a room set as well, the Large Entry Room Set.
What is the Kickstarter for?
5 Years ago we started making 3D Dungeon Tiles. We got ourselves some of the Hirst Arts moulds (yes we are fully licensed by Bruce to use his Catlemolds) and created some masters then we made our very first silicone mould and poured our first Cracked Flagstone 2x2 floor tile. S
ince then we have released just under 900 different tiles in one form or another, in different finishes and different sizes.
We have always stuck to using the original resin infused plaster that we started with, that is until now!
We have already transferred our most popular set, the Cracked Flagstone, and Gothic Wall Dungeon Set, to make sure its possible, but we have lots more we want to do.
This is what the bare resin pieces look like, and how the tiles will look if an unpainted option is chosen.
Now we want to transfer the entire range of 900 tiles into Resin! We have decided to move to Resin for a few reasons but the main ones are:
Durability - Plaster is great but it's fragile. You can throw the resin tiles in your bag and carry them to your game session or club night without chipping or breaking them.
Weight - Plaster is heavy... Resin Less so...
Detail - The resin picks up a lot more detail than the plaster, cracks are clearer and surface detail is sharper. We are also able to cast thinner smaller items, like plates, small jugs, and mugs, graveyard fences and iron grates, things that disintegrate if cast in plaster.
Durability - This is really important if you are as clumsy as I am... Drop a plaster piece from a table to the floor and it’s likely to chip or even shatter. The Resin pieces can be run over by a car and survive.
Customisation - The plaster tiles cant be customised with magnets or pinned items in the same way that the Resin can, and someone mentioned LED lights to me as well.. Which is now possible with Resin, as it can be drilled and filled, unlike the Plaster, which just explodes...
Paint & Finish improvements - The resin takes paint better than the plaster, which has a tendency to absorb the moisture, and give a chalky spotty finish. The resin paints up beautifully and holds the paint, and varnish perfectly. and finally
Durability - I think you probably get the point by now...
We have a more detailed explanation about why we are changing from Plaster to Resin a bit further down, but we wanted to get straight into the nitty gritty of what’s on offer and what you can get.
There will also be an FAQ at the bottom of the page that we have popped a few of the questions we think we will get asked the most, but we will be expanding it as the campaign rolls on.
So without further ado here is what you can get if you back the DMB Game Tile System.

We will then confirm which add-ons you are after the campaign ends.
Why Are We Doing What We Are Doing?
As mentioned before we have been making the tiles for 5 Years. We have learned a lot in that time and we now think its time to up our game and provide what I in all honestly a better product.
What we want to do now is extend the range even more, and start to transfer everything we already have over to Resin.
We are also looking at a little bit of re-branding as when we originally launched we had just the cracked Flagstone Dungeon style patterns, so Dungeon Tiles seemed to be the best thing to call them.
Now we have so many different types of tiles, Sci-fi, Modern, Dungeon, Tomb, Cavern, Inn, Town, and very shortly we will have sewers and wilderness, and larger 6x6, wargame tiles, and Boardgame sets as well, so we have decided to call the range DMB Game Tile System instead, which will include all of the above and more.
Tiles in Use & Scale Pictures
Here are some pictures of the tiles in use, and some with miniatures to show square size and scale compared to various figures.
This Kickstarter has a few people who don't directly work for me at DMB Games but are awesome people and have agreed to help out with getting the resin pieces out to you guys.
The new Resin pieces are being cast by the awesome professionals at CMA Creative Solutions, who produce the highest quality resin miniatures I have seen.
They are expert mold makers who have figured out how to get the best out of my original masters and make the pieces look even better than I could have imagined.
They are responsible for some of the best resin miniatures available on the market so I am confident that they can produce the volume and quantity needed, to fulfil the Kickstarter.
I have several painters ready to help out if I need them to, so we can get the tiles out to you in the time frame quoted.
A quick word about shipping.
We will be charging shipping after the campaign once we know exactly what everyone is getting, as it varies depending upon weight. We are in the UK so we are EU Friendly, saving any of you folks in the EU on customs charges etc.
Rough shipping costs are shown below, and again these are rough estimates based on weight.
Just as a point of reference each Core Set painted and boxed is just shy of 3kg.
1-10Kg = £15
10kg+ = £20
1-10Kg = £20 (23 Euros Approx.)
10kg+ = £30 (34 Euros Approx.)
All Packages = £30-£50 ($41-$70Approx.)
All packages will be shipped tracked and signed for. We don’t want any packages getting lost, especially those for anyone overseas.
If we get enough pledges and packages, I'll look in to getting better rates on shipping, and see if we can reduce the cost for you, this is another reason to charge shipping after the campaign has finished.
Any customs or import charges will be your responsibility to pay and we will not be responsible for them.
DMB Games is fully licensed to use the Hirst Arts molds, and we are registered with Bruce Hirst and are shown on his website under Licensed users. Any images used form the hirst Arts website are done so under licence, and are for illustration purposes only.
Risks and challenges
We have been making tiles for nearly 5 years now, we have the process down and the expertise and knowledge to fulfill the Kickstarter.
We have molds already made for some of the resin items, like the core set and room sets, so it will only be new pieces that need the molds made.
The process is the same for resin molds as it is for the plaster molds we already have, it's just a different grade of silicone, so there is no worry about us being able to make the molds or create the pieces.
Sometimes the process of hand making and hand painting the tiles can be a little slow, especially on the more detailed patterned flooring, but this will only start to cause an issue if the Kickstarter is hugely successful, which in all honesty we hope it is.
If this is the case we have several people on standby to help with the painting and an alternative manufacturing process, that will enable us to produce greater volumes of tiles in a short period of time (don't worry they are still made by hand and in the UK, just not physically by us.
All rewards will be shipped out via a tracked service so there should be no issue with you receiving the package once it's dispatched.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
