Welcome to the Kickstarter for The Center of Somewhere vol. 2: All Over But the Shouting. This 112-page, full-color graphic novel collects the final two years of The Center of Somewhere, my all-ages comedy webcomic. The Center of Somewhere stars a gang of humans, talking animals, and ghosts having somewhat surreal fun in small-town middle America.
The stories in this comic are pretty standalone, so if you haven't read volume 1, never fear, you won't be lost (and if you do want to read volume 1, too, don't worry. We took care of you in the rewards section).
This book is ideal for folks of all ages. Yes, there are jokes for the kids and it's a good book to give to a kid, but that doesn't mean it's only for children. There are plenty of jokes to entertain people of all ages.
The book collects every strip from Jan. 31, 2014 to Jan. 29, 2016. Production is DONE. The strips are all drawn, the pages have been laid out and proofed, and the cover has been colored and assembled.
I am asking for just $2,000, which will go exclusively to production costs. The bulk of that will cover printing, with some of it going to paying the cover colorist. If we get beyond that I have some stretch goals in mind to make the book even bigger and better, but that would be the only case where I would need to do extra work before sending it to the printer.
If you like what you see, please tell your friends. The Center of Somewhere was legitimately fun to write and draw and I hope as many people as possible would like to read it. And with your support, that dream can happen. So thank you very much, and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Risks and challenges
There are very few risks to backing this project. All of the pages are drawn, colored, proofed, and laid out, and the cover has been colored, so all that remains once I'm funded is to send it to the printer. It usually takes about a month to get the books back, and once I do I'll be able to sign them, sketch in them, and send them off. For people getting just the sketch cards, all I need to do is draw them and mail them out. I don't foresee any delays in getting things out, so barring any issues with the post office, you'll have your reward as soon as promised. If anything does come up, I guarantee I'll let you know as soon as I do.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
