The Bowley Lock Company Inc. launched our residential deadbolt on Kickstarter in 2016 to provide home owners with a true high security lock at a reasonable price. Since then, we have continued to offer our deadbolts direct to consumers on our website and have sold thousands more to happy customers around the world. Our lock technology is currently considered to be one of the most pick proof, bump proof and tamper proof lock technologies in existance by experts in the industry. We have had countless requests to incorporate our lock technology into other lock applications. The most requested item we get, is for the padlock.
We decided to design the biggest, strongest and most secure padlock we could envision. Being the second product we are launching we did not want to let our customers down, so we have taken our cylinder and key technology to the next level.
Our new core has a dual shielded 9 pin core which has over 2.3 billion key combinations. Our deadbolt 5 pin design has proven to be extremely resistant to all forms of covert attacks such as bumping, raking and picking and this new design will increase the security exponentially.
We are offering the lock in 3 materials to satisfy the different end uses of our customers.
The aluminum version is the lightest and the lowest cost for those who want to own a Bowley Lock Company padlock. This version is great for locking up bikes and motorcycles because of its light weight and ease to carry.
The Brass version is the most beautiful in its aesthetics and is suited for severe outdoor and marine applications. Brass has excellent corrosion resistance and historically is a popular and classic material for Padlocks. We are making the brass as a limited edition for the Kickstarter campaign and will not be selling it after the campaign closes. If you collect locks this version will certainly be a very rare lock to own one day.
The 17-4 Stainless steel version is our flagship model. This lock is the most secure due to its hardened construction as well as offers extreme corrosion resistance to the elements. This is our favorite material and is what our deadbolts and keys are made of. This Engineering alloy is used in high demand applications such as jet turbine engine blades.
All three versions of the lock have a 7/16" hardened steel nickel plated shackle and are protected from cutting attacks by the large shackle guard on the lock body. All versions of the lock have a 1/4" thick hardened 17-4 SS bottom plate for resistance to drilling attacks on the core.
The name, " Model 543" actually denotes the lock dimensions.
That is 5/4" thick, 4" tall and 3" wide. We intend on following this naming scheme in the future if we make smaller or larger locks.
Other high security padlocks that compete with our lock in size and security such as the Abloy Protec2 PL 362 can retail at over double the price of our lock.
