Back in January of 2012, I launched my first Kickstarter campaign for Plume #1. Not only did it get funded, but its goal was tripled! And since then there have been several Plume campaigns, most recently for volume 3 of the series, in conjunction with my publisher Devil's Due Entertainment. Now, with Kickstarter GOLD, we are relaunching that first issue with a brand new (and foil stamped) cover!
But, what is Plume?
Plume is a western adventure about Vesper Grey and her supernatural (and reluctant) guardian Corrick. On their way to recover some stolen artifacts, they start to learn the gritty truth about the past and how far they’re willing to go to amend it.
Started in March 2011, Plume is now read in over 70 countries, translated in three languages, and gets around 30,000 unique visitors a month.
But, what is Kickstarter GOLD?
This spring Kickstarter passed a momentous milestone: over $1 billion pledged to repeat creators. To mark the occasion, they’ve invited some of their most beloved creators back to the platform for a celebration of creativity called Kickstarter GOLD.
The details: From June 20 – July 31, Kickstarter Gold will spotlight creators as they run new projects inspired by favorite rewards and ideas from their past campaigns. Featuring some of the most exciting creators of the past eight years, the initiative will be an opportunity for backers to connect with these exceptional artists, designers, and makers — and to get in on special rewards that aren’t available anywhere else.
Stretch Goal has been UNLOCKED!
Isn't it beautiful? *teary eyes*
And, did we mention there's a Corrick enamel pin?
*** We will not be able to combine specific line-item rewards during the campaign for this special Kickstarter. You CAN combine any rewards or packages offered, but you can't, for example, take the enamel pin as a single item and add it to a package it is not part of. To order more than one reward package, simply add the amount of money that would be due (including shipping) but just pick one, and we'll get the details from you later after the campaign ends, using a handy dandy survey. After funding closes on Kickstarter, you CAN tack on additional "a la carte" rewards on BackerKit (the survey site we use to process all this stuff that we'll send you a link for later) only IF extras are available.
Risks and challenges
Human error as well as technological errors are always possible, such as software malfunctions, printing delays, and miscommunications.
My publisher Devil's Due Entertainment is helping me with all their resources to fulfill the campaign and has worked to get the process down to a science by learning from their previous campaigns. Using the latest systems for keeping tally of what has been sent, what is still pending, and any other problems that may have transpired post-reward-sending.
I am committed to this campaign and see crowdfunding as an important component in the publishing of the future!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
