A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
What is the Wicked Fisha?
The Wicked Fisha is aimed to be a brand that promotes the true attitude of Bostonians. Our founder has lived in the area his whole life and we don't think there is a better attitude and persona to have towards life than that of a Bostonian/New Englander.
This brand is kind of the anti-vineyard vines brand in that it really represents the majority of the people of Bostonians and people of Massachusetts. The people of Boston and surrounding areas are old-fashioned and hard-working to say the least. They are not the preppy, loaded with daddy's money depiction that vineyard vines represents. The attitude we take towards our business is to be tough leaders that utilize the great power of sarcasm like all great Bostonians, but at the same time being genuinely good people under that layer of toughness. There is no brand that accurately demonstrates this outlook and we want to be the one that does.
Apart from being a lifestyle brand, The Wicked Fisha designs and develops innovative products for the outdoor sports and fishing industry.
Founder Chuck Gibson is extremely passionate about two things: fishing and drinking. In his mind, there is nothing better than taking a day off from life and finding a good spot to hang out with a few buddies, crush a few beers and catch some fish.
That is how we came up with the first product under the Wicked Fisha brand: an efficient tackle box-cooler combo. Taking a traditional tackle box and adding an insulated compartment to store your beverages will make it a whole lot more convenient!
What Sets Us Apart
The Wicked Fisha features an insulated medium-sized cooler designed to fit up to twelve 12 oz. cans as well as some others items (see below) its user wants to bring on their trip. The cooler will have two divisions to keep beverages and food separated from each other, with the dividers being removable for easy customization of your cooler compartment. This portion takes up about half of the storage space of the product.
The other (bottom) half is dedicated to storing all of the user's fishing equipment (lures, bobbers, line, hooks, weights, etc.) in three removable pull-out drawers as well as a compartment for your valuables (phone, wallet, keys, etc.) and another for live bait!
Other convenient features include: a bottle opener, 4 cup holders, a measurement ruler for your catch, tightly sealed hinges, and two rod clips for easy rod storage and transportation. Each component will be easy to use and easy to clean.
The thing about this product is that it can be used for things other than fishing trips as well. It can double as something you can take to a tailgate to hold beers and food and whatever else you need or even a med kit for athletes that can keep ice packs cold and hold first aid supplies, just to name a couple.
And the best part: you can carry it all with one hand!
We have also been recently picked up in a press release by a few major news outlets including Yahoo! Finance, ABC News and Fox News!
The Story Behind 'The Wicked Fisha'
Founder Chuck Gibson is not only a fishing hobbyist, but also extremely passionate (one could say obsessed) with taking already existing businesses, products and services and improving them through innovative thinking. Each summer, Chuck takes fishing trips almost daily with friends from his hometown of Malden, MA. Each trip consists of not only fishing, but also throwing back a few beers to relax with his buddies and take in the full experience. Living in Malden, MA though, makes fishing more of an effort and less of a relaxing activity. The city is located right outside of Boston in an extremely urban area. In order to get to a good spot that has an abundance of fish and water deep enough where things like mud and weeds are not issues, Chuck and his friends often have to trek through forests, trails and other outdoor landscapes. This makes carrying all their equipment for the day difficult. Navigating through the woods on dirt trails trying to maneuver a bulky tackle box, bulky cooler, and problematic fishing rods without tripping and getting caught on the surrounding wildlife is nearly impossible. At one point, the aggravation along with his obsession with innovation sprouted Chuck's idea of the Wicked Fisha's cooler-tackle box combination. He thought that if all of the things needed for someone to fully enjoy their day on the water were combined into one product, the hassle of navigating through the woods could be minimized along with the need to purchase each product individually. With that, the Wicked Fisha was born!
What is the Funding For?
This campaign is focused on completing a detailed design, including specifications for injection and blow mold tools, so that we can move forward with working prototype. After speaking to several plastics engineers, we have determined that we will need to hire a professional that has good experience with CAD design. Our estimate is that we will need anywhere from 70-100 hours of design time service from our designer. Taking into consideration the complexity of our product, whoever we hire needs to be extremely professional and thorough to accommodate all the features listed above. For this reason, we will be dedicating most of our funding to paying this entity. Other reasons for our funding include:
building a legitimate, professional website
filing for patents and trademarks
paying our partners

Risks and challenges
Our challenges are simple. After we reach our funding goal, then the real work starts. We have to find a CAD designer that fits our needs as well as a manufacturer to partner with to start production. Overcoming this challenge will take hard work and dedication from the Wicked Fisha team. We pledge to do everything we can to make this product a reality.
