Your teen years are a very interesting time. You think you know a lot about the world and can pretty much decide the best way for things to be. You look at the little experience you have as enough to take control of you own destiny. Adults all around you continually want to know, what you are going to do with your future and what you are doing at the moment to get there. However, as a teen you tend to think in the present and not of the future. Often the past comes up to haunt you, but largely teens have a unique perspective on the here and now that we sometimes loose in our later years.
In this collection of poems I wish to convey the myriad of emotions, thoughts and feelings I had experienced and dealt with during my teen years. They offer a wonderful insight into the teen mind and stand as a reminder for adults, of all we go through in those years. I hope they may also give back to teen readers some understanding of what someone in the same position has gone through so as to not feel so alone.
I am gathering up the poems I wrote in those years to publish in a volume I am calling On Teenage Angst. The book will be broken up into sections called On Love, On Life, On Death and so on. Each section will have a passage at the beginning describing it and discussing one or two of the poems to follow.
It is my dream to be a published author. I know there is a creative light within me I want to share with the world. This book of poems is the beginning of that dream and with your support I can bring it to a reality.
For this project I need your support to fund the initial printing of On Teenage Angst. Once printed and the premiums are fulfilled the book will go on sale in the Politics and Prose Bookstore in Washington, DC and copies will be sent to publishers to gain momentum for my work. Here is one of the poems to be featured in the book.
Sitting, waiting, watching
Watching the world go by
Watching opportunity slip through my fingers
Watching relations fade away
Watching the tide come and go
Waiting for the world to catch up
Waiting for the right one
Waiting for them to come back
Waiting for it to stop
Sitting alone with everyone around
Sitting and not able to get up
Sitting and not able to filter
Sitting and dreaming
Sitting, Waiting, Watching
I have risen
I have stopped dreaming the imaginary
I have now dreamt reality
I can see the reality to come
I can design the path I walk
I can build the way I want
I am what I am
I am what you made me
I am what I will be.
My creativity doesn't end with these poems. They were a beginning. I also have many ideas for novels that I will be working on in the future.
While this Kick Starter project is under way, I am formatting the poems for the published book and materials for the premiums you have the opportunity to purchase. The descriptive passage for each section is being written and I am preparing the cover art at this time.
Once the Kick Starter project is completed your funds go to paying for the premiums, including my very first published work. Some of the money will be used to purchase an ISBN for the book.
By the grace of your support I know I can be a successful writer and more than that, a published author. This is my dream and you being a part of it makes me very excited to continue harvesting my creativity. By supporting it you have helped me to grow as a writer and shown that I do inspire and have something to share with the world.Thank you for your time and I look forward to sharing this project with you.
