Monterey Jack was born in Newark, New Jersey. Having lived in NJ during the majority of childhood, Monterey Jack naturally built up a tolerance to radiation. MJ moved to Pimpadelphia at the age of 10. Shortly thereafter, an unfortunate accident involving a thug and a pearl necklace left Monterey parentless. It was tough surviving on the streets and MJ quickly turned to a life of crime. With only an abysmal future ahead, Monterey’s tale could have easily ended as another statistic. However, one day everything changed.
It was pure happenstance that Monterey Jack was splashed with radioactive slime after witnessing a traffic accident between two unmarked and likely government-owned vehicles. Due to Monterey’s radioactive conditioning, Jack didn’t die but instead developed powers previously unknown to the human race. Strength, speed, and psychic control were greatly enhanced. From then on, MJ vowed to use the newly acquired abilities to bring down the crime syndicate responsible for the murders of thousands of innocents, including Monterey’s parents. Jack realized that in order to take them down, a new gang, more powerful than all others, had to be created. That day Monterey Jack set out to become Pimpadelphia’s number one PIMP.
Beating up thugs, pimping hoes, and earning cash is Monterey Jack’s primary responsibilities. Earn enough dough and buy yourself a crib. Collect items you find throughout Pimpadelphia to deck out your crib and boost its value. A sweet crib means more followers and higher notoriety. Go big or go home, no one wants to be led by a scrub living in a trash dump. Complete missions throughout the city and defeat Pimpadelphia’s pimps and crime bosses one by one till you make it to the top.

Monterey Jack is a completely immersive and interactive physics environment. The game will be released for the PC. It supports Leap Motion, but this device is not required. It can be played with a regular keyboard and mouse if needed. Additional VR technologies will be added as they become available, beginning with the HTC Vive.
30% - Models, Textures, Animation - Due to the mechanics of the game, customized models, animations and clothing is required in order to prevent clipping during various actions. In addition, we need 3D models of various city buildings and HD textures to ensure a realistic experience for VR. We are also trying to get interior models as well so you can have an interactive urban environment.
15% - AI – A giant city populated by hundreds of citizens requires a smart and efficient AI solution to keep things up and running. While some AI bugs may be funny, it is important to explore and finalize an AI solution that can work with hundreds of characters and still allow NPCs to act in a realistic manner.
15% - Optimization – Having one giant city with everyone walking around and interacting would be nearly impossible to experience unless you have a supercomputer. Instead we need to focus on enhancing various optimization techniques, including occlusion culling, polygon reduction, and streaming environments, which will allow for the operation of an entire city on an average computer. A lot of time and effort needs to go into this in order to preserve a good frame rate for VR and general computing.
10% Sound/ Voice Acting/ Music – Sound is often the most overlooked element in a game but can easily be of crucial importance. Good music, background noise, sound effects, and voice acting are necessary to achieve a fully immersive experience. You wouldn’t want us as the voice actors would you?
10% Hardware – We need to purchase at minimum an HTC Vive and a new PC to adequately make this game. While we can access the API for HTC Vive, it would be nearly impossible to test the game without actually having the VR required to play it. Additionally, our workspace only consists of one outdated computer and one laptop. It is important for my fiancé to have a real PC and not a $200 laptop that can hardly run editing software. We also don’t have any computer monitors but instead use a 10 year old TV that sounds like it’s about to explode when we turn it on and for 45 minutes afterwards. With your help we would like to buy the minimum equipment necessary to adequately make and test the game!

Risks and challenges
Challenge: Keeping in touch with Backers
Strategy: Many developers spread themselves too thin when trying to promote themselves and their products. They have a blog, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Forums etc... Because we want to spend the maximum amount of time possible working on the game while still keeping in touch with our fans and Backers, we have completely limited ourselves to Facebook only. Challenge: Maximizing realism while maintaining a great frame rate
Strategy: Having an immersive environment that doesn't force your computer into a crawl requires extensive planning. That's why we have laid out design and benchmark goals at every step in the process to ensure that you don't need to be working at CERN in order to play Monterey Jack.
Challenge: Model Clipping
Strategy: The Dress Buster mechanic requires a nude mesh underneath clothing. This is not only a strain on resources but it also results in various unfortunate behaviors such as clipping - where you can see the model through the clothes. To solve this we have tested various software and modeling programs that, with your funding, will help us reduce clipping. Our goal is to create a realistic environment. Some developers overlook clipping but it has been quite important to us. We will take whatever steps necessary to minimize, and hopefully, eliminate this problem.
