The Chicago Robotic Theater presents “More than Clouds in the Sky”, a story inspired by the life of Galileo Galilei. The show will unfold every night using robotic characters and be visible from the sidewalk. All the components will be self contained, fully autonomous and are set to an original musical score. The narrative will portray a character named Friedrich who lives in a small village and begins witnessing strange, flying creatures. To convince the people of his discovery, Friedrich builds a survey tower and gathers evidence to support his observations. Despite these efforts, he is still met with skepticism and is deemed a mad man.
"More Than Clouds in the Sky" is Chicago Robotic Theater's entry in "Make Believe: Reactivating Vacant Spaces in Wicker Park Bucktown." Once "More than Clouds in the Sky" is is installed in a storefront it will be audience activated and fully automated with computers, audio and lighting. Then the fun begins. Audiences will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite installation and of course, we hope you will vote for Chicago Robotic Theater's "More Than Clouds in the Sky!" The Launch event will take place on either July 15 or 16 and the show will run through the end of October.
