@Thomas Arbeit – Hi! Thanks for your question and thank you for supporting our project! No, there is no need to do anything for now. As production has started for the first components, we will be sending out a survey to all backers in a few weeks, where we will ask everyone to confirm their shipping addresses and ask a few preferences about the reward. In the meantime, please stay tuned with us through the regular Kickstarter Updates we post.
Thomas Arbeit May 28
Hi, i'm not a Top-10-backer, so please excuse my eventually stupid question:
Is there anything i had to do / to update or something else? Or have i just wait for my fluxo coming end of the year?
Thanx in advance - regards and greetings.
Luke Roberts Creador May 23
@Thomas Schmidt – The lamp shades add-ons we announced in our last update are a concept for which we like to get feedback from the backer community. As they are only in a concept stage so far, the development and production team is not involved and so there is no impact on the lamp production timeline. The shades will only be available several months after delivery of the lamps. Sure we are also planning a little special regarding the lamp shades for our Kickstarter backer community :)
Thomas Schmidt May 22
Will backers get a shade for free to compensate for the delays? Otherwise I would much more appreciate updates of production and timeline rather than adjacent advertisements.

@Koen Vingerhoets – That's a good question :) Yes, a regular lamp (incandescent, halogen) works differently. They directly transform electrical current into heat and light and there are no electronics inside. Our lamps are more like a smartphone (processor, memory, wireless connection) and use modern switching power supply electronics to transform electrical voltage from the mains into a multitude of different voltages required by the different parts of the electronics inside our lamps. The processor controls digitally the power supply parts which allows adjusting the required voltages and currents as needed for a specific light setting. The current drawn from the mains will therefore vary depending on these settings. There is basically a static standby power consumption for keeping the control electronics "alive" and then on top the variable power consumption based on the amount of light that is produced.
Please note one thing: Our lamps (like basically all smart LED lamps) cannot be dimmed using a wall dimmer switch. The dimming is done by the electronics inside the lamp itself.

I'm not an ace in electronics... so forgive me the st00pid questions.
A regular lamp works different, right? I have halogen spots in the kitchen: when I dim, the same amount of electricity goes to the light, but a smaller amount is used for light, the rest goes into a resistor (or smth like that). Correct?
Luke Roberts Creador April 24
@Koen Vingerhoets – Yes, absolutely! Our electronics use high efficiency converters to adjust the power supply to the currently selected light scene. The more light you paint, the brighter it gets and hence the more energy is consumed. A light scene with only dimmed light or a little light spot in one direction only will consume significantly less energy than a brighter setting.

Hi,
Just wondering: if the light is dimmed, does it reduce the power consumption of the lamp?
Thx,

Thanks for replying Luke and sorry to blame you. Those are bad design decisions by Indiegogo. I hadn't noticed the updates posted there either. Please don't let regular updates disappear even if the delays continue; that's all most people need I think.
Luke Roberts Creador March 9
@Honest Supporter – Thank you for your feedback! We have communicated the progress and the expected production dates in our Indiegogo updates the same way we do it in the Kickstarter updates. They are published on the same day on both sites. On Indiegogo, all updates are public, even for non-backers.
The Indiegogo InDemand campaign tool has currently one major drawback: you cannot update any information about a perk (reward) once the first supporter backs it. The only way to change the date is to close the rewards, hide them and reopen new ones. As the rewards are hidden, they loose all public support history, basically hiding what happened on the campaign before. So, we didn't "forget to update" our reward information, it simply isn't possible to do that on Indiegogo.
So we are undergoing the required changes on the Indiegogo campaign. We also encourage all recent Indiegogo backers to reach out to us, in case the current delivery date was misleading!
Honest Supporter March 9
Why does your pre-orders page on Indiegogo still have an estimated ship date of March 2017? Three weeks ago you communicated yet another delay, to May 2017 (under the most optimistic of assumptions – realistically we all know it's going to be much longer).
Shame on you for continuing to accept pre-orders based on information you know is not true. Lofty words about how much you appreciate your backers are meaningless when we see you are either deliberately lying to customers or somehow "forgot" to update your one and only pre-sales page -- one that has generated half a million Euros in sales! Your actions not your words tell us everything we need to know about how much you respect the people that put their money and trust behind your project.

@Patrick Williams – Thank you for your support!! The new update is out now! We prepare the next update in a few weeks already. So we want to catch up and maintain now a shorter period for the updates, to make sure all backers are fully up to date during this final project phase.
Patrick Williams February 16
Luke,
I am a huge fan! For some odd reason you stopped sending me updates despite me being a backer. I'd like to stay updated and know when I might see my two lamps I ordered for my cabin. I am truly, truly excited!

@Mimosa – The instruction manual is not yet ready. We have first samples of the full ceiling mount with all parts. We can take some pictures and post them in the next update or send them to you with a few instructions. The installation is very easy and there are no special installation requirements.
@Andreas – Hallo Andreas!
Andreas Schulte Mesum February 13
Hallo Luke,
Gibt es ein Update zum Stand der Pre samples? Diese sollten ja in der ersten Februarwoche angeliefert werden.
Läuft alles nach Plan?
Warte schon auf Neuigkeiten von euch.

Hi,
I'm going to do renovation for my apartment in the end of Feb.
Is there any latest installation instruction about the lamp you can share with us now so that I can send them to my contractor early.

@Alfred – Thanks, was a pleasure meeting you at the CES! Let's stay in touch!
@Bart – Address change within the EU is not a problem at all! We've sent you a message today as well.
@Rene – Thanks, got your email! We have been very busy with getting the production ready in our supply chain. Will get back to you soon regarding the cable length and mounting question.

@Ralf Kleimann – Hi! We are getting pre-series samples from our manufacturing partners in the first week of February. We will test them and provide a detailed update based on the results. By then, we should also get detailed planning estimates from our suppliers.
Ralf Kleimann January 12
Hello Luke,
it´s a long time since the last updates especially in terms of delivery date. Any news on that?
Cheers

Will FLUXO lamp be at CES2017?
Luke Roberts Creador January 3
@Rene – The cable will be fixed inside the lamp and the other end is loose. This means that you can take the longer cable and then cut it to adjust to a shorter length. Changing the cable inside the lamp is unfortunately not so easy, because it is fixed inside during production to be able to hold the lamps weight securely. What you could do, if you have some space in the ceiling, to roll up the remaining cable somewhere behind the ceiling mount. However, this solution depends on your type of ceiling. You can send us a private message with more info about your ceiling and installation type and maybe we can find a solution.
@Matthias Rockstuhl – We are currently planning the delivery start in March. We are publishing detailed progress updates and delivery estimates in our periodic Kickstarter updates. Please find more in our last update from November. We will keep you up-to-date with the upcoming updates.

Hi Luke,
Sorry, for the 4M vs 1.2M below I meant the cable lengths I would choose for the corridor and study room respectively.

Hi Luke,
I have a query regarding the length of power cable. I'm still yet to decide whether to install Fluxo on the ceiling of the corridor or study room. Since the height of the ceiling from the ground is quite different between the corridor and study room (4M vs 1.2M), if I choose a cable length to suit the height of the study room and later on changing my mind to re-locate it to the corridor, may I know if I can change the power cable myself? If not, any advises on this?

@Cédric – Hi! It's a cool fellow Kickstarter project! We will put this on our list and see if it's technically feasible.
Cédric Viguié en December 1, 2016
Hi Luke,
In addition to Neeo, I would suggest to contact also the "Sevenhugs Smart Remote" team currently on kickstarter to see if it is possible to integrate the Fluxo lamps on the compatible list of devices...
Luke Roberts Creador en November 29, 2016
@Karim – Thanks, that's a very good point! Indeed, we haven't covered this so far. We will put this into our next KS Update. There we can provide details and some pictures as well.
Karim El Hayawan en November 29, 2016
Can we get an update on the ceiling mount? It's the one aspect of the lamp that's a complete mystery.
David Hall en October 31, 2016
Haha Neeo integration. I wouldn't waste too much time on it.
By the time Neeo release their remote the world will have moved onto thought control of devices, built a base on Mars and we'll all be Jetsons - just saying :-)
Luke Roberts Creador en October 31, 2016
@Andiry – Thanks for the question! We are planning to get NEEO integration, so that should work as soon as we have resources to develop it. Amazon Echo does not offer BLE connection, so a direct connection to it won't work without an additonal hub or bridge such as NEEO. We have not yet looked at Harmony / Innogy / Google Home yet, but will put it on our backlog.
@zajiczech, @David – Our whole team is still working hard on getting the lamps produced. Indeed, we are already planning the next Kickstarter Update message, with details on all the progress and timing estimate as well. Please stay tuned for the upcoming update!
David Hall en October 28, 2016
@creator. It's that time when we ask you nicely for an update and you get a but narky but eventually send us one :-)

Hi Luke, any news for us? Or for you?
Andriy en October 26, 2016
Hi Luke, I am about to move in into my new flat and actually the lamps were thought as main light sources for 2 rooms... Anyways I hope they will be ready soon.
In parallel I am planing my Smarthome concept and there will be 3 main components - RWE/Innogy, Amazon Echo (maybe Google Home later) and Logitech Harmony/NEEO (when it's ready). Do you see any downsides of such setup in connection to Fluxo?
Luke Roberts Creador en October 3, 2016
@Sisyphus – Thanks for the suggestion! Actually, we already received a similar suggestion a while ago and decided that a ceiling fan won't be part of our own roadmap. Nevertheless, we might cooperate with other manufacturers in the future to integrate our technology into their products.

@Creator, this project needs to be completed first, of course, but is there any thought of a ceiling fan integrated Fluxo in the future?
Luke Roberts Creador en October 1, 2016
@Christof Hi! We habe given a full update on the progress as well as a new estimation of the timeline including production start in our previous update. Please have a look here, the timeline and production estimate is at the end of the update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2128753402/fluxo-the-worlds-first-truly-smart-lamp/posts/1653139

Just give us a date when you start shipping!!! There my be 10000000 reasons why the world and fate conspires against you...I do not need and want to know... what I want to know is when... be generous and give us a date and work hard to deliver in time....
Kind regards,

@Marco – Danke!
