Inspired by true events, BUBBA is the story of a son trying to uncover the truth about who his father was and how he died.
Any money we raise above the $2000 mark goes toward bringing BUBBA to Theatre Tuscaloosa in Alabama in November.
WHAT IS BUBBA?
In May of 2011, I approached Melissa Firlit about helping me create project about my father and his mysterious/sudden death. I flew to Alabama, interviewed several people, and began to write down my encounters. With the support of my professors at Rutgers University, Melissa and I worked to create BUBBA. A workshop production of the script was presented at Rutgers in March of 2012 and the reaction was amazing. I was encouraged by my professors to enter the show into several play festivals and I got accepted to the United Solo Festival .
WHEN IS BUBBA?
BUBBA will be performed October 25 at 7:30pm at Theatre Row, 410 42nd Street NYC. But in order to get there, I need your help. Tickets are available for purchase at http://www.unitedsolo.org/us/ufest. Any money we raise above the $2000 mark goes toward bringing BUBBA to Alabama in November.
HOW CAN I HELP?
Here's a breakdown of expenses:
Postcards, Fliers, Website, and Promotional Material/Press Packets-$1000
Entry fee for United Solo Festival-$400
Rehearsal space rental-$120
Equipment/Video Projector rental-$500
Every little bit helps, so please donate whatever you can.
The plan is to bring the show to Theatre Tuscaloosa this Fall after the NYC premiere. We have applied for a grant with the Alabama Arts Council but there is no guarantee that we will get it. And if we do get the grant, it won't be enough to help move the show to Tuscaloosa. Therefore, all additional funds raised will be used to help bring the show to Alabama.
