After this Kickstarter has closed any future sales of the Twin Turbo Vise will be through my website:
The first real thing I remember building was a workbench with my mother when I was about 5 years old. I probably wasn't much help, but I loved the concept of a workbench even then, and remember (and still have) the little vise we put on that bench. Fast forward quite a bit to me as an ambitious, aspiring woodworker, and I didn't like any vise options available to me for my dream bench. Fast forward several years more, and I have my perfect vise, because I made it, and I want to share it with the world.
Risks and challenges
The biggest thing that scares me about this project is international sourcing. The gears are going to be fabricated in the US, as thats a highly automated process, and US machine shops were competitive on price and better on quality. But without overseas sourcing the price would have been just too high, I wouldn't have sold any. This type of sourcing can be managed, and my overseas factory did a reasonably good job on the 10 prototypes I had made, but this is where I bear my soul, and it still makes me a bit nervous.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
