I started DDCC in 2012 with the goal of making fitted and fashionable apparel that allowed women the freedom of movement and play. Soon I started forming connections with women in the active community, motivating me to start my own journey towards fitness. Inspired by the lack of sleek and fashionable activewear, I set out to create a new collection that was functional, fitted, and engineered to make real women look and feel their best.
For me, working out isn't easy. It is only through the support of amazing friends that I've stuck with it to this day. It is my mission to provide the apparel to inspire other women to do the same, and support each other in leading fun, balanced, and playful lives.
I've had a lot of help along the way - for the past 8 months I have been a Designer in Residence at the Fashion Incubator at Macy's Union Square. The incredible mentorship offered by this program, along with the support of friends and family is the reason I have been able to create this collection.
So what does DDCC stand for?
DDCC is a playful acronym for Dirty Diana's Clean Clothes. We believe that if you live life right, you get a little dirty in the process. For more information please visit our website.
"As a professional yoga teacher, I am extremely discerning in my yoga wear. These are hands down the BEST yoga pants that I have ever encountered. They are soft and comfortable and make your bottom look amazing." -Cynthia Bates, Iyengar yoga teacher
"These leggings make my butt and legs look skinny and muscled - so awesome! I really appreciate how they stay down on my calves and don't ride up like some of my other ones. They are nicely styled and stand out from everything that I've seen out there." -Cara Prehn, mother & runner
I am so excited to be able to offer this collection in both COTTON and SUPPLEX.
*If you pledge and my campaign gets funded, you will receive an email asking which style, fabric, and size you would like.*
What will my pledges be used for?
The money from your pledges will go towards the production costs for the activewear collection. At $17,000 we can purchase the fabric, trims, and cutting/sewing for both the cotton and supplex garments in 5 styles/3 colors. At our stretch goal of $25,000, we can produce the entire spring collection, including the cover-ups and lifestyle garments made from 100% California-milled Tencel from eucalyptus trees. At $30,000 we can meet the minimums to mill our own fabric, allowing us to use Certified Organic Cotton for the cotton activewear.
Risks and challenges
Apparel production can be a tricky business when it comes to sticking to the production calendar and monitoring quality control. Our longstanding relationships with our vendors have allowed us to predict lead times to deliver goods on time. By using the same factory for our sample making as for our production we have set the quality level for the garments, and will be visiting the factory throughout production to ensure that everything is up to our specifications.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
