Montana Bear School Educational Videos and Children's Book
I developed Montana Bear School to help my students learn when we couldn't be together and cover prek-4th grade common core skills.
Montana Bear School is a free educational resource I developed in combination response to the questions parents have asked me over the years about what they could do to help their child succeed in school and things I want my students to know.
I hope that by watching these FREE videos students will say, I want to try and parents will do the activities at home with their child.
I created the first videos for Montana Bear School last February when we were home for a snow day and I was worried about my students losing skills over the break and I wanted them to keep learning. You can see the first video I made with "Puppy" here.
Last summer I made some more videos to help a student I was tutoring. To see all the videos I have made to date you can subscribe to my AwesomeMontanaYoutube channel or enter the search terms Montana Bear School and there should be some basic counting and letter matching skills we have taught students in kindergarten through 2nd grade.
I would like to make more videos and develop my website so that students every where can have the opportunities to learn and practice the skills taught in the common core in a fun way. To go along with the video series is a book I wrote about a little Bear who wants to go to school.
I've been teaching lower elementary school for over 15 years now and I have learned that students love puppets, they love math and reading when presented in a low pressure environment and many basic skills just need to be taught in a fun effective way.
I have been an artist almost all of my life and I have been illustrating books for children for the last 20 years. The East Glacier Bear Story idea came to me one day driving home from school about a little bear who sees all the children learning and playing and he wants to go explore their classroom.
I can not thank you enough for your generous support of this project and many future endeavors to come.
Risks and challenges
I have been teaching for over 15 years in the public schools pre-k through 8th grade and I understand the challenges teachers face trying to help all of their students master the skills they need to reach the next grade level.
When developing the Levi Bear Goes to Glacier Park book the challenges will include producing a book within the budget at the highest quality. I always struggle trying to make sure the pages are proportioned to the paper. It also always seems like there are some pages in a book that are more difficult to design then others. Drawing animals doing human things can be a struggle sometimes too.
Also producing a project within a certain timeline can be difficult especially since I work full time but I hope to have the summer off to work on my art.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
