Imagine composing a new musical work as a young student...

Imagine sharing this work-in-progress and receiving feedback from professional composer mentors...

Imagine attending a performance - a world premier - of your new work played by professional musicians.

If this scenario seems normal to you, you most likely are a member of Music-COMP (Musical Composition Online Mentoring Program). Students in grades 4-12 submit their compositions to an online password protected website for feedback by professional composer mentors. The work develops and changes over time with the guidance of these mentors. On a designated date, completed works are reviewed by the entire professional composer mentor team and about 24 are selected for the upcoming Opus live performance.

This year marks Opus 32 - imagine -  the 32nd time Music-COMP has organized this event to highlight students' creative work. That's over 600 new works by over 600 students.

Alumni Contributors to this video:

Risks and challenges

With 31 previous Opus concerts already completed, we have the event well in hand in terms of all the mechanics and details. All we need is the funding support now from our Kickstarter pledges. This support is critical and without it, we would be left scrambling to pay mentor and musicians.
